Tickets arrived this morning! Woop woop! Germans are certainly efficient
Ok I hate to be a pain asking loads of questions, but there's a lack of English on the official website and google translator makes me want to throw my pc out the window. Just any info from seasoned RiP-ers would be appreciated.
Would be good if we could get a FAQ post like they've done for RaR.
1. What are the rules for the campsite? Presumably it's ok to bring in food and drink as long as it's not in glass bottles.
2. Is there a reasonable supermarket within walking distance to stock up on food and drink?
3. Do you need to be there early to get a good camping space? Or should we just park our asses on some grass, open some beers and wait for the queues to die down?
4. Website says something about a 5 euro deposit. Do they give you a rubbish bag on entry and we just have to fill it? Or do we have to hunt down these bags?
Someone earlier was worried about not speaking German. Don't worry! I lived in Berlin for 3 months and any time I tried to speak in German people would reply in English. My German must have been really bad
However it is always good to try learn a little, a good place to pick up some phrases is with the Radio Lingua podcasts

I just ordered my tickets tonight!!
How long did they take to arrive?
I dont know about RiP, but at Novarock last year we had to give a 5 euro deposit and we were given a bag to fill up with rubbish. We exchanged the bag for the 5 euros on exit.
Anyone know how much drinks were last year? and whether there was a cocktail stall??

So, just to be absolutely clear, you can stay in a hotel and get passouts from the Rock im Park festival? What if your ticket includes camping? Do you have to stay in the festival grounds each night?
Thanks

Excellent!
Hope it's soon... just out of pure curiosity!
I am looking at who is playing Download and Reading/Leeds and trying to think who they are likely to add to the bill. Maybe Slipknot, Tenacious D and Dillinger Escape Plan?? I would love it one to be Rob Zombie, but I reckon thats unlikely.
Looking forward to the weekend!!

Me too!! I saw White Zombie at Donnington in 95 (I think) and then after at Brixton (again, I think.. memory!
). I would love to see him perform again! It would make my weekend!
I can see all the names you mention as possibles too. RiP/RaR seem really varied (which is a good thing). I am primarily going to see Rage Against the Machine and the other slightly more metal bands, but I love that there are alot of artists/bands there that I normally wouldnt listen too. I find that I usually come away from festivals with a few new bands I am interested in. Sigur Ros would be good too.. very different and ambient, but would make a welcome addition from me anyway
They are playing Connect 08, so maybe....??

Mine took about 5 days to arrive which was pretty good I think. Especially when UK festivals sometimes don't post them out to the last minute.
Booked flights, train and accomodation in Munich for after the festival
I can't wait for a week of German beer!!

It is going to be ace!!
Mine should be here sometime this week then. I was a little worried as my address on the website was a little strange. Think it should still get here ok though. I hope..
I have created a facebook group for anyone in the UK who is going over to Europe this year. Feel free to join

There were definately some cocktail bars last year. Also the odd stall selling wine.
Lager was mainly becks, becks and becks although there was one stall selling some "interesting" beer.
Not 100% sure about the drinks prices, around 3 euros for a beer i think, but I remember that the Platic cups have a deposit so you have to keep em then take em back to get the deposit back. Good to see that they tried this at Reading last year although its not quite the same with papaer cups.
Our hotel is right by one of the festival entrances so no need for a cab if you get the right hotel.
I have never done the camping thing here but I think they also give you a rubbish bag to fill up.

I don't suppose anybody who's been before knows how far the coach station is from the festival site? My group are heading to Prague at 8am on the Monday to continue the festivities, and need to know how long we need to leave it, and whether it's walking distance.
