Shame you didn't get the license for last year. This year rather. Better luck for next year. Or this year if you're reading this next year!

A few questions.

What dates are you planning on holding the festival?

Will there be weekend only tickets available?

I notice you invited Sam's Sauna for 2007. Will you be inviting them for 2008? And/or some of the other saunas such as Heatwave Sauna and Lost Horizon Sauna?

-----------

I'm a bit stuffed for festivals this year. As only starting a new job recently, can't get any time off in May for Sunrise Celebration, and can't get any time off in August for Big Green Gathering or Big Chill. And none of them do weekend tickets. But thankfully I can at least get time off for Glastonbury. So hope to be able to make Settle Festival as well.

Dear All Settle Festival Supporters,

Just a quick newsletter - to let you know that we have just submitted our licence application for Settle Festival 2008, and would like your support and help.

We have also updated the website, www.settlefestival.co.uk with a new look, and the opportunity for it to be more interactive.

Please register and sign in with the site for full content, and news. This is on-going work, so please be patient... or send us ideas for the site, and what you want to see on it, or send us some content !!!

As I’m sure you know, Settle Festival aims to be a regional event bringing a significant music and arts offer to the area, with proceeds being distributed back to the community, via community groups, charities, and a community grant scheme. Unfortunately, there are a small minority of people against this event, which means that the way the licensing works, they could potentially prevent it happening. We know we have huge support in the community, but want to be sure. Hence our request for your letters.

We are sure that there will be a minority element of objectors again to the festival, so would appreciate any support, by way of an email, or a letter - by 18th January 2008

Please Email to EnvironmentalHealth@cravendc.gov.uk to send an email of support;

Mark the subject as Settle Festival

and please, if possible write to

If you want to get involved…

We have regular meetings, most Tuesdays upstairs in Settle Town Hall at 7pm if anyone wants to get involved… (just contact us before you come along, so that we can confirm there is a meeting that week (resume 2nd week in January 2008))

We have support from many local groups and organisations and aim to work with young people of all ages to help them gain experience and to help nurture their artistic talent.

Indeed, the Government appointed Local Regional Development Agency, Yorkshire Forwards has already granted us a bursary award to help develop the festival.

We aim to bring bands and artists of all genres in an eclectic mix to the Area, which will appeal to ages from children, through teens and youth, to students, adults, families and the oldies!

There are opportunities for businesses, community groups, charities and individuals to get involved to further their causes, and we have links with Business Link and Craven College’s Business Training Division, Tyro Training to assist this.

During the build-up to the Festival, we will be widely advertising the event, which will increase the public awareness of the area, and thus increase the tourism potential - a trade we as a region are so dependant upon, across the board.

Already, we are working closely with Leeds Met University, (The Worlds best Event Management Dept – possibly!) and have some of their past and current students working with us, to gain real hands-on industry experience.

May I take this opportunity to wish you all Good Tidings for the remaining Christmas Period and a Great New Year.

Should you have the chance to help in any way, elderly, home alone or infirm people, or any children in need, this Festive period, please do, as it can be a time of loneliness and sadness for some… just a quick call in and greeting may be all that is needed, and is so easy for us to do…

Please remember to write in your letters of support… 5 minutes of your time WILL help to make a difference...!

Yep Paul - same weekend as connect ..... and lodestar and electric picnic ... probably .. but, lets face it, all events in summer are going to clash with something ....

we earmarked this weekend to offer a choice for folks of what they had to go to, as well as festivals - regionally, the weekend before has tons of shows and festi's on - it being the bank holiday ... and this was one of the quieter weekends for festi's ...

lets face it .. i don't think a clash of dates is a major issue for most folks (probably excepting yourself and a few others paul ! coz you luckily manage to get to a few !) as many folks will have a "budget" to go to 2 or 3 fests over the year .. and will plan their year accordingly .... ok if 2 fests on same weekend were equally as good - then that is a contest .....

we certainly will be different to Connect .... more old-style festi, with less commercialism, and a definate home-spun feel !! in the end, it is the folks who come to it that make the event, whilst we supply the infrastructure around it ...... as we are building this from scratch, there is the ability for folks to input into that infrastructure ..... so, tell us what you want, get involved, come along !!...

Connect - pah ! :( just another of the big boys festi's !!

hello all,

Beer is likely to be a collection of local beers, with a mainstream bar backed by a local larger brewer. There will also be cocktail bar, wine bar etc etc - just need to find a local cider bus !!

Day tickets will be available, the extended camping on thursday and monday are essentially extra freebie days ... we will have some entertainments on site, and local outdoor activity providers running trips away from the site etc ...

ticket prices likely to be £83 - including free shuttle bus transport from either of the 2 local railway stations & free camping for 5 days; parking £10, caravans/campervans £33.

Jo - addesses etc are in the post above ... :(

Solfest - Settle - good idea - with a couple of nights in between in the lakes and the dales !! - sounds good -- trip down Settle - Carlisle Railway for those on the train !! I'll try and sort out a local deal for early campers with a local campsite.

Sounds like we'll be needing an E-Festers camping area !! :)

Thanks for all the support

I was well up for this last year, and was gutted when the licence didn't come through. Oh well, I'll just have to make sure I'm there this year :(

What genres of music you will be focusing on?

Edit: email of support has been sent

I know it is too early to ask about line-up but any particular Acts being approached?

I read something on your website about New Model Army scheduled for 2007 (if it had gone ahead, and their manager posting comments disappointed at licence not happening)

Are NMA being approached for 2008?

Would you have 3 Daft Monkeys?
