finn_with_1_n
The National's undercard includes The War On Drugs and Future Islands, which to me makes for one of the best one-day line-ups in a very long time Edited October 23, 2017 by finn_with_1_n
finn_with_1_n
A lot of helpful information here as well: http://www.musicweek.com/live/read/aeg-presents-to-launch-new-victoria-park-festival/070225
DownboundTrain52
Good Lord. And I mean, Good Lord. What's the capacity for Victoria Park again, 25,000? The National should sell that out with those two primary supports, even at £65. All three are pretty impressive live draws - that is an absolutely stellar one day bill. Stuielooie
40k Capacity. Edited October 23, 2017 by Stuielooie
the wonderwhy
Looks like the actual festival is headlined by The XX and two other TBAs, with The National being the first of a series of 'APE Presents...' shows

chemica
There was rumours of The Rolling Stones having a big festival date in the pipeline. With the financial backing of AEG, its certainly possible that this could be what was being talked about. It would be a great way to kick it off. However, my only concern would be the capacity. The appeal of Primavera is carved by the people who attend, the sunshine, the location, the architecture. A few tents in Victoria Park, with a few similar acts would not compare. Tuna
Yeah, Rolling Stones are not playing the same venues at The XX and The National.

No chance they'd put the Stones on here and not Hyde Park a month later. This is basically going to be a Latitude/Primavera mash up I'd have thought. finn_with_1_n
Goldenvoice are promoting the event so looking at their other clients, we might be expecting headliners like Arcade Fire, Gorillaz and maybe Sam Smith (although perhaps not the latter). I'd have thought Arcade Fire would probably be Hyde Park bound still. Wolf Alice being somebody's main support has got to be nailed on though. shoebox
I saw a post elsewhere, prior to this announcement, saying that the headliners would be: Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds Bjork Xx LCD Soundsystem The National The fact that they've got two of them right so far, I'd be inclined to believe them. 1

Guessing the sixth will be one of the stand alone shows they haven't finalised yet. So... Nick Cave, The XX, Bjork for weekend 1, LCD Soundsystem, The National, ??? for weekend 2 I'd guess

Dear God, how much for a season ticket? So is what they've replaced Field Day with.

They haven't replaced Field Day.. however they've forked enough money to make it move. Field day will still go ahead, which could prove a tough sell
shoebox
Think Field Day will be a very different thing to this. They've never attracted headliners of this sort of size before, so I don't see it as direct competition. Field Day will still be more niche, possibly more electronic focused. Plus it has a dedicated fanbase.
