Acts you don't "get"

Recommended Posts

I thought this thread was "which band/artist are you proudest to dislike?" rather than "which band/artist do you dislike?".

Another one for The Beatles. I just don't get it. Actually anything Paul McCartney based.

I got carried away.   I shouldn't be mentioning obvious rubbish like Ed, just the stuff everyone seems to love.

Like a bunch of shifty looking actors covering Yazoo.

I'm definitely in the crowd that doesn't get Fleetwood Mac. Baffled by how big they got and how revered they still are.

The issue is that bands like The Magnets and films like the Pitch Perfect series show how acapella can really be turned into art.

I was five when it came out.  I didn't know they weren't supposed to be cool.  If I had known, then of course, I would have hated the song.

All the Picketeers, coming out of the woodwork to throw their weight aroumd.

Of which there is sadly lots.  Plenty of time to slim down for 2019 though!

Arcade fire and elbow for me. Arcade fire even more so because they get such high praise and acclaim while I just find them a bit boring

I suppose there's lots I don't 'get'. Most of it I just think is just pretty average and I'm not sure what would make anyone want to listen to it. There's not much I think is crap that people on here would like -  Taylor Swift and Katy Perry maybe, that pure pop stuff does nothing for me. Muse, U2, Stone Roses, Oasis, Courteeners...

As Sleaford Mods might say - 'lad bands are dead you c**t'.

Adele - Don't think I have made it all the way through a single song of hers, if I am not able to switch stations myself I will actively leave the room. It's not that I just don't get her music, her music repulses me for some unknown reason.

I'm with you on this.....painful to listen to for more than a moment. Immediately makes me think of a Phoenix Nights audition.....NEXT

I dont get how Fleetwood Mac post-Peter Green are so much bigger and well loved more than pre. That's probably my dad's fault though.

I don't get why when they're compared some people prefer Editors to Interpol.

I don't get people is my problem I think.

To be fair I think the first Editors album's pretty decent.

I'm not seeing this as a negative thread, just an honest one.

If we all had the same taste in music then there would be need for only one stage at Glastonbury.

It's definitely a negative thread.

It's somewhere between a venting thread and a guilty displeasures (absolute band name) thread.
