Just me that's baffled by the popularity of Renee and Renato?

They weren't the same after the original Renato was bumped off and replaced by an imposter.

The only thing worse than the Christmas Number 1 in 1982 is the Christmas Number 1 in 1983.

I see your 1983 and raise you 1993!

"Save Your Love"?  Save your royalties as it won't be long before you're back waiting tables Toni's Trattoria in Sutton Coldfield, mate.

"Only You"?  Only a sextet of snowman costume-clad sideburn-festooned socialists murdering Yazoo on Christmas Top of the Pops, mate.

One band I really don’t get is Genesis proper boring drivel and their live gig atmosphere looks dire.

And a more recent pick would be The Sherlock’s as they’ve got to be the MOST landfill Indie band ever and I usually enjoy the indie ‘lad’ rock scene. They have nothing new about them whatsoever.

The National. Soz National-fuckboi's.

Whaaaaaat.

For content: Sparks. Who does this appeal to? Most bands in this thread I can kind of see something in or have met someone who likes them, but.... Sparks? Why? Who is this for?

Bit of an odd act to have beef with given that they're largely an under the radar cult concern.  It's like getting miffed at Half Man Half Biscuit or something.

Kimono My House is an all-timer and still a thrill ride now. Very important album.

Live videos are how I got what was going on.

There's not much big or obvious to latch onto in their music, for me it all came down to noticing the intricate interplay Bryce and Aaron have going on. From there it all just seemed to make sense, the way all these elements are layered on top of each other, everything's so deliberate. Matt's voice was a huge turnoff when I first listened, but I can't get enough of it now. It's weird, I can't reconcile the songs I'm obsessed with now with being the same songs I thought were unremarkable a couple of years ago.

Just reading the thread from the start but had to post when I got to this.

Lawn sums it up perfectly.

& it was Katie scarlet* off of here recommended that very vid above that got me started.

Great stuff.

*sorry Katie, can’t remember your exact @ name.
