Transporting luggage/alcohol

It's my first time at a festival and just wanted to know what other people did about carrying their stuff. 

I have a large rucksack and camping equipment is being distributed between the four of us but we have a fair amount of alcohol- boxes of wine and beer etc. 

I read that you can make  donation and someone drops your stuff off at your tent? Not sure how that works?

One of the girls suggested bringing a shopping trolley, an old lady thing not a supermarket one, for alcohol! 

Any advice in general would be great- just think we are going to scream first time festival goers
