Hello people,

I’m slowly getting back into reading the forum, I was a bit down about it for s few months knowing the fallow year was next up

As it turns out, personal matters mean I would likely not have made 2018 anyway, so realising that, I’m more motivated to poke around in here :)

It's nice to have a little poke now and again ;)

Couldnt feel less like the beautiful summer week we had at glastonbury 2017 but this time of year isnt without its charms, getting in the mood for xmas starting soon, just booked tickets for me and my youngest daughter to travel on the sleeper train up to london to check out all the xmas lights etc just before the day itself, which we did last year and she absolutely loved (to a 5 year old bed and breakfast on the train is akin to how I feel about glastonbury I guess lol. so yeah, everytime of year has its charms I guess. been keeping busy on the gigs front, metallica and cradle of filth over the last couple months and prodigy coming up next month. Hope everybodys keeping well and all happy and healthy. :)

Happy Birthday Mrs Gumby! Hope you had a jolly time!

I went to a party at the weekend, it was much fun but today I have enormously swollen glands (go on, I know you want to say something!) and it really hurts! I seriously need to lay off the consumables for a bit before I pop! November has been busy!

Other than that, all good here :)

Morning all :)

I'm also off out for a birthday do today. It's Mrs gumby's 40th, so we're off to Brizzle for a meal and comedy club evening with family and friends, while gumby jr has a sleepover at his nanny and granddad's. Have a good weekend everyone! :)

Mrs Gumby and I were born on the same day in the same year..... That makes us totally awesome

Hello and welcome back Curlygirl. Not sure where you've been but hope that things are good with you.

Things are good at this end. After almost 53 years of living in Birmingham I have (along with my wife, I hasten to add) moved out, and moved to a very quaint little English town which has a river run through it. It makes a nice change from where we were with the shop and that. For example, we haven't been burgled yet once! This compares to about eight burglaries and thefts we experienced in the last year where we used to live. I tell you what as well - there isn't even a lock on the back door of this place. You can secure it with a bolt though. Anyway, I intend to put a lock on it, as that's the main door that we use, having virtually blocked off use of the front door with furniture.

We've still got a fair bit to do on the house to get it the way we want it, but will get there eventually. Guess what - the house was built in 1590! Have you ever tried getting insurance on a house of that age? Every insurance avenue I tried on line threw me out because their programs just didn't register houses so old - the computer said no! I have therefore had to go to a specialist listed building (for it is a listed building) insurance broker. Oh how I didn't laugh with delight when I saw the insurance premium! They even put another @£300 on top as a flood damage waiver, even though the river (which runs through the town) doesn't affect this property on the odd occasion that it floods. There are houses just a little bit away from us, which are right next to the river, and they have sand bags in the alleyway. They must get flooded all the time. Apparently the river does sometimes flood, but only comes up to the end of our garden - phew!

Anyway, I'm banging on about my move, so will stop there. Hope life's good at your end. :)

Hi @Yoghurt on a Stick, please feel free to bang on about your house... It's exciting for you. I know it's really not funny but I can't help but laugh at the image in my head of Mrs Yogs legs dangling through the ceiling :taunt:. So yes, I can believe the house needs alot of work doing. That was a big move for you two! But it sounds like you have the perfect neighbour too, and at least you now feel safe in your new home. How is the local pub?

I haven't really been anywhere Yog, my friend is a raving alcoholic and has lost everything, including her two girls, my godchildren! Problem is she won't admit she has a problem. I have recently been cleared by social services to have access to them and have them overnight so I'm trying to add a bit of normalcy to their lives.

Hello Curlygirl,

There's about a billion pubs and hostelleries in this vacinity. The place really is riddled with them. Some of them are closed now because they make such money during the summer months that they can do. We don't go out much anyway, so it doesn't affect us. That said, the people at the local supermarket know that we are lushes because of the amount of gin we buy every day - ups!

Sorry to hear about your friend. It goes without saying that me and my wife are piss heads. However, where we used to, individually, go on benders lasting days, we no longer do. If you / your amigoe wants to know how we managed to loose the soul destroying guilt then please PM me. All the best Curlygirl :)

As usual Yog you are a true gent. Kath doesn't yet feel guilt, she thinks everyone else is to blame for her predicament. I also don't feel guilt as I've carried her for a long long time, but now my attention needs to be with the children. I just wish she would sort herself out. It's heartbreaking tucking the kids into bed and they're crying for their mother. One of those things though, nothing much I can do except be there for them and listen to them. Thanx Lovely

OK, Curlygirl, no worries. However, if Kath needs to talk then PM me, and I'll give you my email address, so that she can talk to both me and my wife. Honestly, we've been where she is.

Nice one Curlygirl, for being there for Kath. That speaks volumes to me.

Can't think of many people I'd rather have tucking gumby jr into bed than you, CG, if me and Mrs gumby were unable to for a night or two. Those kids are lucky to have you in their corner :)
