MartinK
Please don't hate me but this year was the worst ever for stage visibility from afar Take them with you, use at your tent and for locating people but please during a show put them down I like to wander across all stages so the chances of me getting to the front is slim - maybe ban them from the front section of the Pyramid and in music tents? Also at places like the Park where we don't have luxury of big screens. Sorry to moan - this was however the best year I've ever been - absolutely everything was incredible, just the flags wind me up !
pilton digger
shall we all do this again, or just refer to last year's thread? Or the years before etc.
Slugworth
I quite like the flags. Then again I'm always watching from the back so they don't get in my way. Glastonbury is the only festival I know of that has that many flags at the stages at any one time so I say NO to the ban.
tom22
Love a flag. Lots of reasons, main one being how handy they are as waypoints for finding people.
SloopJohnB
Keep the flags!!
Upside down frowner
How would we/you find anyone? At some point at Glastonbury you must have used a flag as a reference point?
Nutella Versace
Ban tall people wearing wide brimmed hats
deebeedoobee
The flags in the jp tent were very atmospheric. Love um but flags are marmite
RickW
Not really bothered by the flags, they do add to the atmosphere and especially on TV they look impressive, without wanting to hijack the thread a bigger problem this year was people sitting on others shoulders really spoilt my view for a lot of my pyramid watching seemed to be surrounded by this year many people had their views spoilt by this selfish behaviour, as a regular at rock festivals I was surprised by how tolerant others were of this. kalifire
Flags are fine if they're up high on a pole. The long vertical ones that obscure the whole thing for everyone behind them can get in the fucking sea.
Tyonks
Not sure why this debate comes up every year - think the flags add considerably to the atmosphere during the sets.
CaledonianGonzo
There seems to be fewer and fewer of them every year now. Our view of J-Corbz was, however, spoiled by a row of folk holding up placards. Ban placards.
Deaf Nobby Burton
They're never going to be banned, they look too good on the TV. And for that matter I think they always make a pyramid headliner especially look so atmospheric in the dark.
nikkic
Ban people that don't like flags instead. Much better.
chrismcb
I'm kinda both sides ha! See the crowd and flags, looks pretty cool. 5 mins later watching a band on stage, "feckin flag is in my way!" As others mentioned, great for providing a marker of where you were and need to get back to, not so great if the person who's flag you made note of moves while you're away! Homer
So easy for finding people. My bro's is fairly small and on a long pole though.
Alcatraz
The really jokes ones shouldn't be Completely bottled it when I saw the guy with the 'Just Sack Pat' flag in one of the markets as it's one of my faves Edited June 26, 2017 by Alcatraz
Skelts
Flags, schmags, not overly bothered about them. But blanket w@nkers, chair c##ts and daisychainers can feck off. Especially 10 mins before a headline act comes on
GlastoSimon
Only going off the telly coverage but seemed to me there was less this year?
JacquelineS
I like the flags except in the case of one woman who was waving her flag so violently she kept whacking me in the head with it. Other than that photographically they look cool and there are lots of responsible people who have flags.
CaledonianGonzo
Yer man from Justice striding out over the crowd to grab the big cross on a pole was a fun moment.
budvar
We have the same debate on these boards every year and I imagine the consensus will be broadly similar - they add atmosphere, but can be a pain in the ass. IMHO there not as bad as they were a few years back. People seem to have clocked that it's not OK to have huge, low ones that block the view of loads of people. A few that made me smile. brighton1983
Daisy chainers and people with rucksacks that keep banging in to you. The size of some of the bags was ridiculous!
henry bear
On Friday there was a flag with 'Play The Fucking Bends' on it. Optimistic.
jparx
I'm firmly in camp flags. Love them. I'd never dream of taking one myself, but they add so much to the atmosphere.
