East camper field, who's waiting?

Thought we could have a thread to let everyone know if the gate is open. We are practically outside the gate waiting. Anyone else here?

We are in a layby about 1.5 miles north from the gate. Had a call from a friend who reckons they'd have told her opening at 8 !!

They've told us a few times 12 but we've overhead them saying to a local that it's gonna be earlier

Woooop enjoy! We now can't come (to west cv) until much later as we want to camp with friends who have been told by their van rental place they can't pick it up until 4pm. We want to arrive together so it'll be a slow drive down from Yorkshire with some scenic stops en route! Do you mind updating us on how you find the searching?

What are the Campervan searches like? Dogs?

Sitting in the first field off Pylle Lane waiting. It seems it's open - about 30 vans in the line I can see. Presume it's the first security check.

There is four or five lanes in this field. It's searches. It is moving but expect waits. I'm in one line, about 5th with around 5 vans behind me. It is moving though.

CV Searches a little more thorough than before but nothing to be concerned about.

What's the best route to East CV from the North? Had a nightmare queuing experience last year but hoping the fact that it's dry and we've set off a bit earlier will make it a lot better this time.

Satnav says I am 20 minutes away.

when I bought my camper van ticket it did not give me the option of family field. Anyone had success getting in family fields without family field ticket?

They're pretty clear once you get past security. Different stickers, many security dividing you based on the stickers. Traffic doesn't even stop, there is no conversation. Once in I was visually checked twice again. I'd say very unlikely you'll get into "family" without a family sticker.

 

Not that it is "family" in here. In 2018 they might as well say "close" and "far" camping.

Isn't that's what family means anyway?

Not really. My children can walk! Better for the soul.

 

But for the purpose of this, "family" is to the left of Pylle Lane, "general" to the right.

 

It's possible to be closer to the gate in "general" than in family depending on which field you were in (& where on that field).
