Primavera 2018

The more I hear about next years line up the more I want to just grab a ticket now. However, I have no one really interested in going, don't really fancy Barcelona on my own. Shame.

I went once more or less on my own once and it was fine. Was easy to make friends (just go to Can Paixano) and there's a meetup group.

One bonus is that you get to see the music you like.

Yeah it's just like getting flights that worries me, I've not left the country in years.

I saw Father John Misty last week and he played with an orchestra. Was magnificent.

I was also at that auditori show 6 years ago and couldn't imagine at the time he would be headlining festivals!

I know he divides people but he totally commits to his performances and was a level above anyone else I saw so I really hope they book him again.

It seems he's been doing the orchestra thing for a while since he pulled it off at Roskilde (!) so I can imagine that Gabi and co have pitched him a sundown spot at Mordor -Demarco's spot last year and Damien Rice's one a few years ago- with a full orchestra behind him.

I would hope so... but there's talk of Brixton Academy and Glasgow date potentially being their last.... time will tell. I hope they continue thru to the summer.

Yeah, I stayed in a 4 bed near the Sagrada Familia. Was much cheaper than equivalent hotels, for sure.

Won't be for much longer. They've started a huge crack down on cheap (and sometimes illegal) Airbnb's in Barca this summer so prices are gonna go up over the next year.

Which side of headliner/sub would each of Jack White and Sufjan Stevens fall?

Jack White would surely be a headliner? I'd say he's a bigger deal than Bon Iver anyway. Sufjan's harder to predict as normally I'd say sub but he is a pretty much perfect fit for Primavera which is in his favour.

They've both got new albums on the horizon and are live rarities in a way. And I'd like to see both of them soon.

But aye I can't quite make my mind up. Seem like good points @kingcrawler but yeah at the same time I could imagine people being disappointed with either as a top line act.

My Bloody Valentine are working on a new album as well, should be released in 2018. They headlined Primavera Sound in 2009, 2013. Might be headlining once again.

The subs are very often better than the headliners and lots of them and then the undercard is always spectacular so people who are disappointed because of the headliners probably aren't open-minded enough to try new things or like ticking names of lists/showing off to their friends.

MBV is never the wrong answer! Also looks like Christopher Owens will be back with his new band.

Girls at Primavera 2012 is one of my all time highlights and his newer stuff nowhere near as good. Maybe this new band will mark a turnaround.

As far as I know both Nick Cave and War On Drugs did not add any Spanish dates to their current 2017 tours. Could be potential candidates?
