My sister in law got hit by a smoke bomb thrown during Morrissey in 2011.  She was lucky she had her hood up as her jacket was all scorched.  If she hadn't then she'd presumably have been burned pretty badly.

smoke bombs are not flares....

presumably you're posting this from your bed in the burns ward?

Yeah, severe pain.

The only time I have ever been bothered by a flare was at Arcade Fire in 14, someone was on their mate's shoulders - flare in the air, causing no bother -  the security grabbed him, then walked the flare to the back of the pit, over the pit wall and into a bucket of sand. He marched with it it, pointing downwards through the crowd of people. Someone did complain they had been burnt in fairness. That was due to the actions of the steward. There wasn't an issue until he grabbed it.

So the next logical step is to ban stewards.

And bands. If there's no bands, then people won't feel the need for flares. Its the only logical conclusion. The likes of Arcade fire, Chemical Brothers and Underworld are a scourge on this world and are a danger to our freedoms. Down with acts!

As from the 3rd of April 2017 The possession and use of flares and pyrotechnics at music festivals became illegal in England and Wales.

Laws aren't created for the sake of paperwork, although paperwork may be the result. That said, regardless the danger, and perhaps because of it, the inevitable lighting of a flare at some point will be all the more brilliant as an anti-establishment message.

I did think that the flares during Kasabian's set may have been legitimately used, mind you.

Flares...

Ed, its fucking rammed where we are, in front of speaker tower stage right for those that know it. Just up from entrance from JP and Other where it got overcrowded earlier.

He plays Galway Girl, cue primary school age kid on parents shoulders given a flare by the parent! Fires it off and smoke pours towards us and others who can't get out of the way. Steve the Security bloke (spoke to him a fair bit over the weekend) is an Army SNCO moonlighting and he piles over the fence, grabs the flare off the kid and brings it back at ground level. It's glowing red hot and sizzling as it lands in the grass, he pours water on it to cool it down. These things are 400c when firing. We use them for guiding rescue helicopters. Had that kid dropped it either he, his parent or others would have been burnt and it would have started a panic in the tight crowd.

Irresponsible and stupid IMO

Saw one near the Brothers Bar for Justice, looked to be a few during Courteeners as well but that was about it for me.

Were pretty much constant for the courteeners mainly in just one area so could have been all from the same group of people. Also the worst fans of the festival.
