Waterloo to Castle Cary: Wednesday Morning

Hey all, quick question. I'm usually a driver to Glasto, but this year will be slumming it on the train (which does make me feel a little bit greener at least). 

How busy are the trains on Wednesday morning coming out of Waterloo or Clapham Junction? My mini-group are hoping to get one of the first ones into Castle Cary but ideally would like a seat for the 2 and a half hour journey so wondering if we should get there 30 mins before departure at Waterloo to guarantee this or if I'd be okay getting on locally at Clapham.

Not for me, I live in South West London, so the time you save going on GWR is lost trekking across london with a backpack. Plus it's half the price on SWT.

We went from Paddington first train and it was packed but they opened first class and we were in the right place at the right time and got a seat.  It was manic though on the train, people standing on people.  Once we got to Castle Cary though it was very well organised and a swift access in.  I would say get there early as you can
