It was only a joke. We had some knocking about but there was no real need to use them. Same with records I suppose... People play more on vinyl now than when I was a kid.

First single: I can remember buying Killer Queen or Bohemian Rhapsody but it may have for a present.

First album: no idea

First tape: ditto, never really bought many but made loads of mix tapes

First CD: Beatles Past Masters Vol 2

First download: no idea.

First Now album: never owned one, pretty much hated mainstream 80's pop.

First gig: The Specials, Cardiff 1980

First Glastonbury: 1983. As I remember there were two stages, the Pyramid and the Hare Krishna tent. The Pyramid headliners were Melanie, UB40 and King Sunny Ade. We were easily pleased back then!

I was there,( it was my 2nd, I went in 82,) and King Sunny Ade was fucking awesome. Danced with some very pretty ladies, it was my birthday on the Saturday, they had it earlier then, Glastonbury I mean, not my birthday.

First single: Wham, freedom

first album: David Bowie, Ziggy stardust

first tape: Bros, push

first gig: late, actually. I was 20. It was Placebo in Perth, WA

First Glastonbury: 2005. Wanted to go since the mid 90's, none of my mates wanted to go. Wasn't of an age where going on your own was a thing. Got together with my (still) missus, she'd already been 3 times!

First act there: undertones opening the pyramid stage I think, the other stage was cancelled for a few hours cos of the four inches of standing water everywhere!

Oh go on then

1st single Roy Orbison It's Over, dunno why, I wished I'd bought something a bit rockier but I was very young

1st album The Kinks Sunny Afternoon ( a Marble Arch compilation)

1st tape Neil Young and Crazy Horse Everybody Knows This is Nowhere, every copy I had of this on vinyl jumped in the same place

1st CD REM Orange

1st download Something illegal off WinMX I expect.

1st gig Yes at Blackburn 1971 I think, it was the time of The Yes Album, certainly the first BIG gig I attended except see next bit.

1st Festival Hyde Park 1970 Pink Floyd did Atom Heart Mother with a full choir and orchestra. I was 15 had hitched to London from Lancashire the day before, was totally fucked and missed a lot of it but did see the Floyd, just.

1st Glastonbury 1982, got there late Friday, my birthday, in the pissing rain. The girls (and dogs) wanted the van so we had to put the tent up and got soaked. Roy Harper was on the next day and was dull at great length, shame cos I was a fan, we'd gone to see Van the Man, my missus loved him, I was looking forward to Jackson Browne on Sunday evening but of course after Van the girls wanted to go home. Guess who won. My (ex) missus has never been to Glastonbury since, this year will be my 26th, I work there nowadays, makes for an easier, more varied festival, I wouldn't miss it for the world.

Age I'll be 63 the Sunday before

In the 80's Michael Eavis used to choose rather idiosyncratic Pyramid headliners; Ade, Fela Kuti, Gil Scott-Heron, Dr John etc.

You've all got far better memories than me it seems.

First most of these questions: No idea whatsoever.

First 'now' album: Don't think I ever had one. But I'm not certain.

First gig: No idea - I went to a youth group that put on "under age" gigs and it would have been one of them. First by a major band would be U2, Zooropa Tour, Wembley 1993 which I'm quite proud of. Think I nagged my dad for ages to get him to take me.

First Festival: Witnness 2001. Would have been earlier if I wasn't useless. The amount of convincing that mates had to do to get me to sleep in a tent.. How things would change.

First Glastonbury: 2004. Would have been earlier if mates weren't useless. Tried desperately to organise them for 2002 and 2003 to no avail. So went in 2004 with different mates instead.

Age: 37 (and I had to double check that)

First 'now' album: Now the Christmas album!

First gig: David Essex - 1975 Earls Court Arena

1st album (bought with my own money - had saved for weeks to buy it):  Dark Side of the Moon (got stolen on the bus on my way home 20 minutes after buying it)

1st CD:  No idea - though I know I bought Enya for my mum

1st download:  Dark side of the Moon

1st gig:  Christie Moore but he was completely hammered so it's never counted in my mind.  I'm going to go for AC/DC as the first "proper" gig.

1st Now album:  Whatever one kept my 4year old daughter happy on the very slow drive down to the south of France in a very old car in 1992.

1st (one day) festival:  Slane Castle 1986.  (Yeah, I saw Freddie)

1st (multi-day) festival:  Cambridge Folk Festival 2003

Age:  Whatever it was when I started this list, it feels much greater now!

Obviously a curse with this album - I've bought it at least 4 times, had it stolen/ permanently borrowed, lost and broken
