I've had an Anker for a couple of years and it's never worked that well - it takes a bout 4 days to charge it and the connections can be a bit loose.

So - time for a re-up.

Can anyone recommend a replacement that'll see me right come the last weekend in June?

I have an Anker one which has always been ok. Bought this as well which is pretty awesome.... Charges my phone about 5 times+

https://www.amazon.co.uk/20000mAh-Output-iPhone-Samsung-Blackburry/dp/B01LXYK955/ref=sr_1_8?ie=UTF8&qid=1493370806&sr=8-8&keywords=aukey+portable+battery

They all take donkeys years to charge up... that is the whole point of them, they hold a shit load of charge so takes a while.

I've got this one as well. Was still half charged by the end of the weekend last year.

I've been using this almost every weekend since doing European festivals last year

 https://www.amazon.co.uk/Portable-RAVPower-16750mAh-External-Technology/dp/B00OJXVDAU/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1493371340&sr=8-2&keywords=rav+power+bank

iPhone and Pokemon go meant I was constantly needing a charge. It would last a few days even though it was almost always charging a phone. With moderate phone use it should comfortably last a week. All depends on how much you're planning on using your phone for what kind of power bank you need. They will need to be charged overnight, think my first charge took 18 hours but once it's powered up it will last you.

I got one of these http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ONLY-USED-ONCE-AUKEY-20000MAH-PORTABLE-CHARGER-EXTERNAL-BATTERY-POWER-BANK-/302288038683?hash=item4661c56b1b:g:7DoAAOSw~AVYv~47 .

It charges my Iphone 6 between 6/7 times and takes about the same amount of time as a wall plug. It does take a little bit of time for the battery pack to charge up (12 hours) .

I have had mine about 2 months and no issues yet. Can't go wrong for a tenner!

I need to get one but I worry that even with one of these supersize chargers my phone will be dead by the Sunday!  What about the phone charger tents - isnt there a way you can leave your 'anker' battery there to be charged up all ready for your return to after the party?

In that case id get two chargers, one big one for a full day time charge round the tent and a tiny portable one that can give you a quick top up whilst your out til the early hours. Sounds like lots of faffing but you can top up your small charger from your big one each day. Personally id rather not go through that much hassle of continuously charging things or visiting the charge tent at all.

If you get one around 20000mAh or more, which are normally around £20, it will give you 6 or 7 charges which should be more than enough for Glasto. Just plug it in when you get back to your tent at night, and you will have a full charge when you wake up. I am sure that should last you for 5 days. And switch your phone off when you go to bed

bear in mind you need a good charger to charge up the battery pack itself - using the one you got with your phone, or a usb port on your computer will take days and days to get a 10000ma or bigger unit charged up.

get one of these (or similar) https://www.amazon.co.uk/d/l02/Anker-2-Port-Charger-PowerIQ-Technology-Samsung-Motorola/B016LPMFUA/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1493373223&sr=8-1&keywords=usb+fast+charger

and the battery packs will charge up a lot quicker.

Didn't they stop doing that last year because some of the ones the previous year set on fire?

They were the EE specific ones. Juice bars are available from (adopts advert voice) all major mobile providers.

O2 website.

On the new map too so definitely back.

I had a Tecknet 15,000mAh powerbank for three years and it was great until it recently stopped working.

So I need a new one, and I'm currently leaning towards this:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B01L90C9HQ/

20,000mAh for only £16 seems too good to be true, but the reviews seem ok. Does anyone here have one of these?

I take two with me.

I have this one that does me the full festival with some left over... https://www.amazon.co.uk/EC-Technology-22400mAh-Capacity-Flashlight/dp/B00F5Q4F0U/ref=sr_1_16?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1493373690&sr=1-16&keywords=battery+pack

Then I take this one and keep it for the Monday morning, just in case the other happens to run out and it means I defo have battery for the journey home... https://www.amazon.co.uk/Anker-5200mAh-Portable-External-Technology/dp/B00P8SY7HQ/ref=sr_1_5?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1493373690&sr=1-5&keywords=battery+pack

My tip - When using a battery pack like these, don't leave your phone charging overnight as your phone will constantly be topping up to 100% the full night so the battery pack will run out of charge quicker. Just charge your battery in the morning and unplug once it's at 100%. That way you'll get the maximum number of charges from it the pack.

I just take an old Nokia with a load of spare batteries that I got off of eBay. I only really use my phone for trying  to find mates so this does everything I need.

I do have an Anker charger but I usually leave this in the lock up with my smart phone and occasionally bring it out when I'm at my tent.

i have a slightly older version of this, but it's basically the same:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/d/Cell-Phone-Portable-Power-Bank-Chargers/20000mAh-Lightning-Speakers-Cellphones-Micro-USB/B0183K0GZC/

still had over half the power left on Monday.

when actually at the festival, putting your phone on flight mode most of the time saves shitloads of battery, can still take photos etc when it's on, and can turn it off now and then to get messages/check things.

what happens if you use a fancy plug like that to charge your phone? will it burn it out?

Do you need a special cable too? or is the one that comes with your phone ok?
