What are the best animated Disney films?

To be clear; we're talking Walt Disney Animation Studios feature length cinematic releases. So that means no straight to video, no Mary Poppins and no Pixar. If you want to do a Pixar list, you may do, but it must be secondary to your Disney list. If you do a mixed Disney and Pixar list, your details will be forwarded to the Police and charges will be pressed.

1. Lilo & Stitch
2. Pocahontas
3. The Little Mermaid
4. The Jungle Book
5. Bambi
6. Aladdin
7. Sleeping Beauty
8. The Princess & The Frog
9. The Hunchback of Notre Dame
10. The Lion King

Bonus Pixar list;

1. The Incredibles
2. Toy Story
3. Finding Nemo
4. Toy Story 3
5. Brave
6. Toy Story 2
7. Wall-E
8. Ratatouille
9. Monsters Inc
10. Up

Don't try to be clever by putting Pablo Honey as number 9, this isn't a game.

I'd go as far as to say Disney are beating Pixar on recent releases. And my opinion means more because I have a first in animation. But as for lists...

1. Alladin

2. Lion King

3. Tangled

4. Jungle Book

5. Beauty and the Beast

6. Wreck It Ralph

7. The Aristocats

8. Zootopia

9. Bolt

10. Pocahontas

(Shout out to big hero 6)

Pixar:

1. Wall-E

2. Up

3. Toy Story

4. The Incredibles

5. Toy Story 3

6. Monsters Inc.

7. Finding Nero

8. Toy Story 3

9. Inside Out

10. Brave

That'll be Disney poaching all of Pixar's staff

Poaching their staff, John Lasseter is the chief creative director at Disney now.

EDIT: misread yours as 'stuff', my bad

4. Alladin

5. The Rescuers

6. One Hundred and One Dalmations

7. Dumbo

8. Mulan

Anyone that doesn't put Toy Story or The Incredibles as number 1 for Pixar can't be trusted.

My Pixar list:

1. Toy Story

2. The Incredibles

3. Monsters Inc.

4. Wall-E

5. Toy Story 3

6. Finding Nemo

7. Ratatouille

8. Toy Story 2

9. A Bugs Life

10. Up

(Side note: I have never seen Brave which I hear is quite good so it isn't missing from my list fo any other reason than that.

And Inside Out doesnt make the list for a good reason and is probably my least favourite movie of all time)

No live for the Disney version of Robin Hood? All time favourite for me. That, Hercules and Mamma Mia are still my go to films when I'm hideously hungover.

Haven't seen owt between The Jungle Book and The Little Mermaid. I wasn't born and they've got a reputation for being mediocre. The Little Mermaid diamond edition bluray has a whole making of documentary which dedicates a lot of time to calling the post-Walt's death era complete shit and nearly bankrupt the company.

Didney

  1. Peter Pan
  2. The Lion King
  3. Pocahontas
  4. Dumbo
  5. Beauty and the Beast (the original, not the awkward posh wooden 2017 version)
  6. Frozen
  7. Snow White and her tiny friends
  8. Bambi
  9. The Many Adventures of Winnie The Pooh
  10. Alice in Wonderland (again, only the original will do)

Lilo and Stitch was the first film I ever saw at the cinema but is disqualified for having a naff ride at Disney World, on the other hand Winnie The Pooh wins inclusion purely for inspiring the best ride in Fantasyland.

Pixar

  1. Monsters Inc
  2. Inside Out
  3. Toy Story
  4. A Bug's Life
  5. Finding Dory
  6. Toy Story 3
  7. Toy Story 2
  8. Finding Nemo
  9. Monsters University
  10. The Incredibles

Those last two in the Pixar list are pushing it compared to the first eight.. Ratatouille was instantly forgettable, Cars and Cars 2 are super lame, and to my shame I've still not seen WALL-E so can't put that either

Ratatouille, really? I liked the incidental details.

And the rest of you, no Lady and the Tramp, wtf??

Jungle Book, yeah, but I'm not fussed about the singing in the other ones. I'm more into Warner Bros and Hannah Barbera.

Edit: ok I love animation, but I don't live with my parents or wear short trousers.

Edit pps I'm off to Studio Ghibli next year, whoop!

Disney

  1. The Nightmare Before Christmas
  2. Lion King
  3. Alice in Wonderland (these top three are pretty interchangeable to be fair)
  4. Aladdin
  5. The Sword in the Stone (a forgotten classic)
  6. Robin Hood
  7. Pinocchio (dark and absolutely terrifying..they get turned into donkeys for crying out loud)
  8. The Little Mermaid
  9. Beauty and the Beast
  10. Lilo and Stitch (but if we're doing best characters, Stitch clearly wins hands down)

That was actually harder than I thought. Didn't have space for Dumbo (*sob*). Moana doesn't quite make the cut...but it is probably the best animated disney film in 9 or 10 years.

Disney  :

Little Mermaid

Zootropolis

Black Cauldron

Wreck It Ralph

Frozen

Aladdin

Jungle Book

Peter Pan

Bolt

101 Dalmations

Most of this is from memory when I was a kid.  Couldn't tell you the plot of many of the older ones, but remember loving them.

Pixar :

Toy Story 2 (RIP Mr Potato Head)

Inside Out

Monsters Inc

Car 2

Finding Nemo

Incredibles

Toy Story 3

Finding Dory

Cars

Toy Story

The omissions are down to not having seen the others.
