I've only been a distant listener to these over the years; they seem to pop up in my musical circles, so to speak, but I've never dived in (with the exception of All Things to All Men which has been a regular for a decade or more).

I have never seen them but did notice they played nice theatres last year. Any ideas what to expect from them, where they might play and if their stuff translates well in an open field?

They are definitely nudging the must see category for me, all things being equal.

I used to listen to Ma Fluer a lot when I was at collage, and thought it was really good. But then I heard to To Build a Home the other day and found it kind of annoying, like a bit pretentious. I'll give the album another go soon anyway, and I'd say listen to it if your thinking of seeing them.

I was about to say that it will be the kind of set where most people are anticipating To Build a Home, but then according to this latest setlist they didn't even play it. http://www.setlist.fm/setlist/the-cinematic-orchestra/2017/a2-saint-petersburg-russia-53f99f1d.html

They're confirmed as Sunday. I agree with Park headline, I'm struggling to see them anywhere else really, suppose they could be evening JP.

I think that might just be a mistake as it's their second most common song according to the statistics

Pre-Bonobo is a good shout - but funny how things go; they've been the jewell in the Ninja Tune crown for well over a decade. Live, they are INCREDIBLE. Have been a favourite of mine since I listened to Everyday in about 2004, one of my fave albums of all time. Technically, they can't be beaten. If anyone sees a better drummer than Luke Flowers all festival, that drummer will be a drummer worth watching at worthy.

Ps - Ma Fleur is great, but for anyone reading this, give a few listens to Man With A Movie Camera. And if you've got loads of time, watch the silent film which the track takes its name from. The film is from about 1922 by a guy called Dziga Vertov (translated to 'spinning top' - the Ukrainians thought he was mad) and TCO did a soundtrack to it, played live at the Porto capital of culture in about 2004, to a massive standing ovation. Music needs more of these guys.
