You don't get an Ian Brown set without a couple of Roses songs.

I dunno, looking back on setlist.fm, he didn't play any Roses songs on his last couple of dates. Played two at WHP, but that was in Manchester.

He might have it out of his system now. I'd quite like to put this nostalgia behind us for a few years.

That's fair actually he didn't do much. I don't even like Fools Gold myself but I think at Glastonbury you would get I wanna be adored and Fools Gold, I'd love She bangs the drums but that's not happening

I don't want them personally. When the band hadn't played together for 16 years they were the best you were going to get of some much loved old tunes, but everyone who gives a shit will have seen Reni, Squire and Mani playing unmatchable versions of these songs.

I don't want some cover version taking the place of Stellify or My Star.

Brown headlined the Other back in 2005 and did play a few Roses tunes IIRC. Seen him a few times (that WHP gig was actually a precursor to Parklife in Platt Fields Park) and he’s always played the big Roses tunes - Adored, Resurrection, Fools Gold... Although it might be the case that now he’s toured with SR for a few years he may want to focus on his solo stuff and drop the Roses material from his set.

In terms of placement he might even get away with headlining the Other up against a big pop headliner on the Pyramid.

I think The Weeknd is a fair bet to headline 2019 has plenty of hits and looks like he'll be releasing an album at the end of this year

I doubt it. Maybe I'm wrong but I think he peaked a couple of years ago and has kind of plateaued since. Would make a decent sub, but I don't see him ever being booked to headline, and will more likely just get booked to headline Wireless every few years instead.

Guys, what day do you reckon tickets will drop. the first or second Sunday of October (7th or 14th)??

First Thursday (coach deposits) and Sunday (regular deposits) in October is the normal pattern, isnt it?

(so Thurs 4 Oct evening for coaches and Sun 7 Oct morning for regular deposits).

I'm pretty sure that he hadn't been playing them until that point but then kicked off this gig with the opening three from the Stone Roses album.

Pretty sure that's what happened, though I could be mistaken (I was watching Basement Jaxx at the time).

I was on the barrier and that sounds about right.

It's interesting to see the time to sell out rise so quickly. No wonder you old folk get so rattled by ticket day... a bit of (relatively) new phenomenon.

Lamenting the days when in the 90s you could walk into a record store and pick up a ticket with a few weeks to spare.

Why did 2009 take so long to sell out?

Are you confusing 2008 weather with 2007? 2008 was incredibly unremarkable weather.

Indeed. 2009 was the first year that ticket day was in October, and also the first year of the deposit scheme.

08 didn't sell out until the week of the festival if I remember correctly?  Due to a combination of the 07 weather and lineup and the dodgy lineup in 08. When people are on about the Verve being great you know its a stinker.

Never ever forget the 08 lineup on the Friday on the Pyramid and The Other.
