Getting to London on the Monday Morning

Hi all,

There's a good deal on a train ticket from London Euston back to Glasgow on the Monday. The train leaves at 14:30 from London.

My question is, what time do you think I should aim to be at the London National Express coach queue on the Monday morning? Would getting there for about 8am leave me enough time (under as normal conditions as can be)? I've no idea how quick the London bound National Express queue goes down. I know that I'll then have to get from Victoria to Euston but that doesn't seem too bad.

Cheers!

Leave as early as humanly possible. Last time I went it took us 6 hours to get back to London and it was horrendous! We set off later than 8am though. I then ended up on a train back to Manchester about 8:30pm, rough as old rope

I bought the ticket, was only £35 so no huge loss if I decide not to travel that way. You guys are making me think that it may not be worth the risk solely relying on that train!

have you considered getting the train into London.?

It probably wont be cheap, but should take only a couple of hours.. out of Castle Cary (they run a shuttle out of the festival)

I've not, didn't consider that. I'll look into it, cheers!

I agree with the comments above. A couple of years ago I left the festival at 8am to London and my train from London home was 7pm. The plan was to get to London for about lunch, a few beers and all that then train home with plenty of time. I got to London about half six and nearly missed the train home getting from Victoria to Kings Cross. Horrific journey. Never again. Train from Castle Carey or maybe even Bristol if I were you

its a gamble that I hope you win

in the past I have been on a crew Coach and while I live in London one of my Team lives in Iceland { its a long story } so time factor is important to him as he has to get to Heathrow.

The crew coaches will start to leave at 6am and some years the trip back is easy but some years for reasons we never found out - there was a big delay - not getting out - that has never been a problem but closer to Stonehenge - now the coaches stay in touch so my driver called up the coach behind so they were able to avoid it but we were stuffed - the coach that was able to avoid it ' was back in London ' four hours us  before us.

its impossible to predict

I would tend to agree with people that the train from Castle Cary would be your best bet although you have to be prepared to queue for the shuttle  as there will be lots of others who will have the same idea

a short video of what its like { when they are going to the festival }
