ShakeyCrash
With Glastonbury being on a fallow year in 2018, it has been slowly dawning on me that there is a void fast approaching my life. Within a matter of months, the lineup would have dropped, clashes will have been dreaded, the weather will have been meticulously watched (and verbally threatened), maybe a headliner would have broken a limb or two, and far-fetched secret gigs will have been rumoured and dismissed in the very same sentence. Then the festival hits; you get memories you could never have planned for, and a warm glowing feeling that will last until the anxiety of ticket day sets in (and so begins the next cycle)... unless the next year happens to be a fallow year. In order to fill this void I have began wondering what other festival(s) I could go to; I have been to Green man so this would probably be one but any advice on any others worth checking out either in the U.K. or elsewhere in Europe? danielharris627
Boomtown would probably be my second choice, though it falls a bit later than Glastonbury does.

payneruk
Sziget in Budapest is really good.
Untz
The Paying Off My Overdraft From A Big Holiday Earlier In The Year Festival, probably. It's going to be a ball.
DareToDibble
I think I am gonna look into going to Benicassim. Lineup always looks fairly good and the weather will be a nice break, too. However I will still miss being rained on and covered in mud at Worthy Farm!
king_oxymoron
I go to Sziget most years even when Glastonbury is on now but I am looking forward to the whole crew being free to come with!
ghostdancer1
I'll be taking the opportunity to go to Primavera and Sonar/Awakenings.
sheffieldlady
No festivals, going on a road trip in the USA!
Hugh Jass
Really wanted to go to the World Cup, but the prospect of a load of angry Russians jumping on my head doesn't appeal.

Is there a festival in Eastern Europe that you could escape to at short notice if needed?
Guy Incognito
will most likely go to Primavera again and try spent a significant amount of time abroad.
AmyShambles
Planning a trip Japan in autumn 2018 so will need to save for that. Might try to squeeze a festival in if the budget allows for it.
Familiar2billions
Primavera for me. Fantastic festival mixed in with a city break in one of the coolest cities on the planet. They always pull a good line up out the bag plus the majority of the stages are situated in jaw dropping settings (apart from the two main stages which are in a gravel car park)
joeltg
A few people have recommended a few other festivals to me, and was originally going to do one or two others this year (finances permitting) but makes more sense to do them next I suppose. Maybe Beautiful Days, End of the Road or something similar? They also mentioned avoiding Lattitude but haven't researched to find out why yet. Maybe I have to take my own butler and a copy of the financial times with me? Edited March 8, 2017 by joeltg
BlackHole2006
An unrealistic dream of mine is to finally go to Burning Man. A more realistic dream is to go to either Boomtown or Beautiful Days
joeyjarman
Benicassim for me as well, I hope! Wanted to do it for a while so might as well make it next year!

Would probably have to blow all my savings for it, tickets alone are around $400, that's not including flights to LA, accomodation before hand, food for the week, tent etc. Is it really worth spending all that cash for a week at a festival? That was my thoughts too, wanted to go over for Euro's but saved for the states instead. 4 minutes ago, BlackHole2006 said: Would probably have to blow all my savings for it, tickets alone are around $400, that's not including flights to LA, accomodation before hand, food for the week, tent etc. Is it really worth spending all that cash for a week at a festival? Why not go Vegas too? Burning Man is the festival curated by the attendees isn't it basically?

stuartbert two hats
But having said that, I might end up going with the family to a chilled out one instead.

There is a similar event in Spain tho isnt there, but much smaller? One of the recycling supervisors was going over for the build last year straight after glastonbury. Amy Lawn
Might go Greece, lie on the beach, drink beers, look at Ancient Greece stuff, run away from unnecessarily massive creepy crawlies, like what normal people do with their time off work.
