PFMooncat
Hey all. I'm looking to book a festival in Europe next year presuming there's no Glastonbury in 2018 but haven't got a clue which to go for? Has anybody any experiences of other festivals or any recommendations? Thanks for any help. Cheers

amfy
Sziget in Budapest is very Glastonbury in that it's got lots of different stuff going on. - lots of different music venues including a classical stage. There is a world stage, and African.Latin/reggae stage, a Blues stage, a new music stage, a Rock stage, a few dance arenas etc etc and then theatre, circus, politics, random art installations. Eavis himself said it was the most like Glastonbury. There's plenty of space for all but the most popular headliners. It's sunny, it's in a fabulous city, the crowd are from all over the world yet everyone speaks English as the common language - it is truly international enough that if 2 Hungarians met there, they would start their conversation in English. We found the crowd brilliant, young and very unself conscious - will dance anywhere to anything with anyone - very old time Gkastonbury. Apart from the weather, it's differnt to Glastonbury in that it's feels a little less chaotic, as it is on an island in the Danube which is flat parkland, rather than a rolling farm. Loved it last year - going again this year. Line up is just OK - but this festivals strength is in the stuff you haven't heard before - which again is very 'old Glastonbury'.
