pothead pixie
A new Scottish festival has been launched in what looks like to be the same grounds that the former Connect festival (2007/08) ran in. This could also be trading acts with Ireland's Electric Picnic like the former festival also. Acts announced so far are Frightened Rabbit, The Jesus and Mary Chain, Arab Strap, Crash Club, And Yet It Moves and Brat and the Bonemen. http://electricfieldsfestival.com/line-up/

pothead pixie
So how come I never heard of this festival then, it was pretty much under the radar and if I recall I have never seen any threads about it in Efestivals over the last few years. SwedgeAntilles
Yup, had an eye on it the last couple of years but never actually made it. Would be tempted this year by Arab Strap and Jesus and Mary Chain (unless the latter are at Glastonbury)

As has been mentioned it`s a pretty small affair. The folks from Kendal Calling are involved now and they will be hoping to cash in on the demise of Wickerman. It`s not that far from the Wickerman site. This year they have extended into another field for family camping. We`ve got tickets
LOCHLAND5
I attended last year on the Saturday, I've gotta say I'm looking forward to taking the whole family back in 2017 hopefully it will fill the wickerman gap that we have been left with . Great little festival I expect to flourish over the next few years . If your thinking of going just do it you won't be disappointed.

spudthemariner
Aye, we went and happy to say, it was a cracking wee festi! 5000 capacity and nicely spread out in a really lovely setting, so it never felt too crowded. Very eclectic lineup spread over an outdoor main stage and 3 tents. Really enjoyed the Neu Reekie takeover of the Dance Tent during the day (although there were occasional sound bleed issues). Favorite sets included PINS, Anna Meredith, JAMC, Birdhead and Kate Tempest. Although to be fair, I didn't see one bad band over the whole two days. A decent ale tent serving at reasonable prices (approx £4.50 a pint), and the food area was supplied by The Pit - Street Food Market (based in Edinburgh). Quality food, decent portion size and not too expensive. It was only over two days so felt a little short, but we had a grand time regardless. We also had great weather, although it was bloody baltic overnight...lol! Its still growing / developing so it should only get better. Will definitely consider it againin the future. The only real downside, was that there was a large gang of unaccompanied underage teens who caused a bit of a ruckus on the first night (most likely attracted by the Saturday headliner Dizzy Rascal). After complaints security and the rozzers pretty much sorted it though (a few were escorted off site with the rest told to tidy up there rubbish and shut up or risk the same fate). Security were generally pretty friendly (although bag searches were rigorous), could have done with better marked water points in the campsite and the 'quiet camping' wasn't marked so the stewards didn't even know it existed. We both really enjoyed it and would definitely consider it again. Its still growing / developing so it should only get better and it could turn into a cracking end of season do, particularly with the 'apparent' demise of Loopallu! Frrrraaappp head
Was at Electric Picnic in Ireland the same weekend so with 50,000 more folk ha ha, we got a lovely sunny Friday and a cyclone on Saturday from 6 PM onward but Sunday was all lovely again, your right about the nights though it was baltic on Friday night but Saturday and Sunday were warmer. Here's my review I hope you like it. https://niallmcquaid.wordpress.com/2017/09/08/electric-picnic-2017-festival-review/
