I'm just wandering what bands would be at this VF do....... I've not been to boom as I don't think I'd manage it but personally I'd like to see a camp bestival style festival so that it's a real family do...

I have someone (supposedly) telling me the site ... tho still with a little bit of confusion in the mix, that might perhaps make it wrong.

Am just waiting to find out if i'm safe to say.

If you're informant is correct, does it sound like a good site?

I've no idea, it's not a site I've been to.

First, a bit of preamble ... the info has come from the gossip of locals, and it may or may not be true - i don't know either way. But seemingly, locally it's common knowledge amongst the right people.

The site is supposedly the Great Tew Estate, which is about 4,000 acres, owned by a buddy of Cameron's, and currently has Cornbury festival there (tho it's the last one this year).

sort of - cos it's below brum.

It's also about the 100 miles Eavis has mentioned, and is in the same area I was pointed towards by someone who'd heard some stuff but nothing exact.

Yup. I made a point of asking if there was any confusion around which of the two it might be, and what he'd heard made it definitely Great Tew Estate and not Cornbury Estate.

Just google mapped it, and there's running water marked on the map in the area - tho how big it is and whether it makes 'a valley' I'm not sure.

edit: biggish hill on one side of it.

One thing that goes against tew is there's no railway station nearby but at cornbury there's 2 right by it, but then castle Cary is not exactly close to pilton.

Emily has talked about bands headlining it and they say it's going to be similar scale. I'd guess it's going to be a similar mix to Glastonbury.

my guess would be something not too unlike Bestival - with many smaller stages rather than being about the really big bands on the really big stage.

So if you like, Glastonbury with Pyramid & Other removed from it.

I think they're likely to have difficulty sticking to a smaller-bands thing, just because they're so very likely to have bigger acts throwing themselves in their direction.

Joking aside, what sort of capacity is VB gonna be? The new site surely isn't gonna have the bespoke drainage systems and long drop pits Glastonbury / Worthy Farm has added over the years.

as I understand it, it could be anything from around 30,000 to the same size as G.

Stuff like drainage should be a little less necessary, at it's not that same non-draining clay soil.

An event will happen away from Glasto in 2021.

 

May not be called the VB. it all got announced a bit quickly and escalated.

 

Not much work on it currently - all efforts currently focused on next week.
