eastynh
As an aside, I actually prefer Electronic to The Pet Shop Boys.

CaledonianGonzo
Have the lads off of Electronic done anything else worth investigating, musically?

Listen to the 1st 2 albums. The 3rd one sounds like some of the latter day shitty New Order guitar albums. Although it does feature this: Saying that the 3rd Electronic album is better than the afore mentioned NO albums. Like I said, the 1st 2 Electronic albums are good. With members of Joy Division/New Order, Pet Shop Boys, The Smiths and Kraftwerk, you would expect them to be good.

Spindles
I get out of bed at half past ten phone up a friend who's a party animal Turn on the news and drink some tea Maybe if you're with me we'll do some shopping Hard to argue with lyrics like that. Mardy
I bloody love 'Left to my own devices'. Fabulous song. Pet Shop Boys are a tremendous band. One of my favourites. Saw them in December here, they've gone a bit 'rave nostalgia' for the new show, but they can still bring it. Last album has two absolute classics on it, Pop Kids and The Dictator Decides. There are few bands I have loved for as long as the Shoppies, an absolute constant in my life for over 30 years now. Always magnificent. CaledonianGonzo
I do quite like The Pop Kids, but probably their best recent track is Love Is A Bourgeois Construct. Albeit I now realise that that's 4 (!) years old.

rubenz
Not sure how the psbs are losing this poll! I think this is my favourite track from gl their earlier work. Cool video as well.
Spindles
The comment about them being one of the great singles bands of the 80s is very true, I think. One of those acts who could combine a catchy tune with a wry turn of phrase that appealed to those of us who enjoy a good lyric. As a 15 year old I was big fan, Please and Actually were great albums and while much of their mid career music passed the world by there was always the occasional corker in the mix. rubenz
I should really listen to some of their newer music as I stopped listening to them somewhere around the Go West era. I shall also listen to some public service broadcasting Edited January 9, 2017 by rubenz
CaledonianGonzo
Pet Shop Boys gave Dusty Springfield a late career new lease of life *and* enraged Bono by mashing up Where The Streets Have No Name with Frankie Valli.
BlackHole2006
The latest Pet Shop Boys release 'Super' is a really great album and features some of the best lyrics I've heard in recent years.

The Red Telephone
Left To My Own Devices Suburbia Being Boring West End Girls Always On My Mind (best cover version ever?) 5 of the top 100 British pop songs ever recorded there. PSB, no contest.
