Remember to pace yourself on the booze on Wednesday and Thursday mind as all too easy to get over excited and still a long way to go!

I will have to officially retract this statement. Have been drinking kale and spinach smoothies this week for the January health kick and it seems to have clouded my thinking:blink::ph34r:

I will be arriving Wednesday morning I I know it will be packed by then,

its amazing how much it has changed, you used to be able to rock up Friday morning with a tent and still have room, Now Wednesday afternoon and  it's packed

Wednesday and Thursday are the best days by far

Wednesday was a write off for most people last year due to traffic complications etc. But in other years, Wednesdays are always the best day. As people have said, a vast majority of the bars are already open and the EFests meet starts at 6pm. As far as late evening entertainment goes, Green Futures is always a good shout. Always a great to start out the weekend with some chilled out acoustic music and it's open till about 3AM.

I'm one of those mad fools who has been obsessively right at the front of the queue the last few years, pitched up within a few minutes of the gates being open (oh, the simple joy of being able to walk straight across open fields).

Wednesday and Thursday are 2 of the best days of the festival for me, socialising with the camp solo crew, wandering without a timetable and generally soaking it all up.  Like others the Glastonbury sign is an essential pitstop on one or other of the days, preferably in the afternoon when the sun is blazing.

I think you need those 2 days to settle in, get your bearings and stop giving a shit about what people think about how you look, sound or smell so you can really relax into things once the stages start in earnest.

As others have said, the Wednesday night fireworks can be seen from anywhere on site, so there is no need to waste your time tromping up to the overcrowded stone circle just to be caught in a human traffic jam on the way out.  Every year it feels like more people have deigned that experience one of the 'must do' things which invariably leads to it being oversubscribed and far from enjoyable (much like the Thursday Williams green stuff).

This, definitely,  with big brass knobs on!

  • 2 weeks later...

Been going since 1995 but always travelled overnight Wed/Thurs arriving on site around 5am. Never any traffic or queues so it's always worked a treat.

This year will be my first in a motorhome that I have invested in so actually considering getting there Tuesday when the camper van fields open. It will be good to get there for the full event for a change.

Might even make the E Fests meet up although I don't really know anybody but guess that's the point!

Fireworks are alright as long as you're not daft enough to actually go to the stone circle to watch them. Saw them from our tent this year... about 20 minutes after finally getting pitched, fuck the trafficpocalypse and mudpocalypse and lawngettingtoodrunkonthebustohandlethetentpocalypse.

On alcopops?!

Lightweight.

Left Glasgow at midnight on Tuesday and didn't get on to the farm until 7pm Wednesday,  showed the newbies about a bit in preparation for a full session on the Thursday,  I love the Wednesday and Thursday it's great to see about,  the crowds in venues on the Thursday can get ludicriously busy tho,  last year the surroundings of the beat hotel and stonebridge were a write off.

Always get there for the Wednesay, milk every second I can in that beautiful place. Last year was latest we've got there, 6.30pm, we were on the 1pm coach from bham, so not to bad at all considering the carnage. Was hard getting a spot and setting up, but as soon as that was done, it was forgetton about.

This year hoping to be back at normal time 8-10am, set up and let the good times begin.

we were debating turning round after 2 hours of not moving just before street , but some nice lady kept the motivation up with cups of tea from a nearby house and the church opened its doors for toilet visits , and a quick interview  with clinton rogers the local news reporter made the time pass a bit faster (it was never broadcast :( ) my friend suggested taking some back routes wen we got to street and this helped cut many hours off our normally 50 min journey !! I'm amazed we managed to get through and more roads were not closed off , wednesday is a must for chilling out and getting into the festival spirits

As is so often the case, there was also tequila. Anyway I wasn't that drunk, just a little bit too woozy to handle the tent as skillfully as I would like (in the dark, might I add).

Ah. Well that's perfectly acceptable.

Wednesday morning 2015: my early morning c**tedness resulted in a tent row with Mrs Woffy (totally my fault, obviously).

Not quite this bad though:

Loved reading some of these posts, gets me all excited again! I know there's loads of these types of thread, but it's always great to get that little surge of internal excitement about Glasto.

By all means, the arrival on the Wednesday is one of the best parts. Just wandering around with a couple of cans and seeing everything is my favourite thing to do. Also, yes, a trip up to the sign/hill to watch the first sunset is always worth it.

I saw two blokes like that one year at Glastonbury. They had staggered up the hill to where we were camped and then put on a display like the one above. Myself and a friend were then forced to itervene on humanitarian grounds. We found out from them that they had snapped a few of the poles while trying to put the tent up at the bottom of the hill. They had then moved up the hill in the vain hope that there luck would be better up there. My friend and I managed to erect their tent as best we could using their broken poles etc. Then they both went in to the tent. Every day or so we would see a head pop out of their tent only to see it dart back in again. Fuck knows what they were on in that tent.

Well, it soon went from being funny to watch to being tragic. We knew that if we didn't help then the two blokes weren't going to have shelter for the festival.

I am guilty of not getting around too much of the festival on the last couple of attendances, but I reckon these blokes never left their tent except, maybe, to go to the loo.
