c'mon guys, you're slacking ... i came in here to find new tracks by new-ish acts (to nick your recommendations, of course), and there's been nothing new since yesterday. :P

The Bay Rays - They headlined introducing last year and they're great!

Well the debut album by WHITE is worth shouting about. I suspect the Glasgow collective at eFests are already wise to them as they've been trailing this record for a while. Can't see a festival that they're doing so may not be eligible for VOTD but I'll mention them anyway. :P

More eligible (playing Great Escape and Dot to Dot) are Gothic Tropic. Album's out on Friday and it sounds like it's gonna be just in time for that nice weather to come in...

But you said they had to be playing Glastonbury... or likely to... :)

Vök released their album of Icelandic dream pop goodness on Friday called Figure.  Well worth a check out.

I really like the athmosphere they create but overall the album lacks a few standouts. It's a very nice listen but I couldn't tell you the name of a single song because they all feel a bit too similar.

I think that is a fair review to be honest... their first EP had this on it :

Something stand out like that on the album would help it, but it feels they went more dream than pop on the album.

wary of hyping it up too much as I thought similar for their last album (though not to the same level) but the new alt-J album is shaping up to be really good based on the three singles. Shame they look so poor live most of the time as they're still a strong contender for my Saturday headliner.

Quite liked that one - they seem to do the moody atmospheric thing (3WW and this) much better than their attempts at catchy pop singles (In Cold Blood, most of their other songs I'm familiar with).
