Jolly Jock

Sorry to be the bringer of bad news, but I have just heard that Jolly Jock passed away last night, after his long and courageous fight with cancer.

He was always on my must-see list, and the place won't be quite the same without him.

That's sad to hear. In the few years I've been Biggles has become like the big kick-off to the festival for me so I'm grateful for all the entertainment he's given.

Fucking devastated. Had an update from his partner on Tuesday on facebook to say he had gone back into hospital but things were looking promising. Only saw him a couple a weeks ago at the Biggles Christmas party and he was in fine form. The only positive is that I finally managed to introduce my wife to Biggles and £1300 was raised for the local hospice.

Gutted.

I'm very sad. I had the pleasure of chatting to him at Glastonbury a couple of times, he was a very friendly and approachable man and I'm happy I have a few photos of him to remember him by.

2016 takes another star. Biggles on the bandstand at croissant neuf - the only way to truly start the festival. 

Horrible news. Hopefully a fitting tribute can be arranged for him. :-(

My suggestion is a Flash Mob version of Glue Siffin at 2pm on the Wednesday at the CN bandstand

One of my favourite glastonbury memories is seeing him in 2014. Had no idea who he was. I just wondered by the solar cinema tent. So glad I could catch him again this year.

Really saddened by this, proper entertainer and gentleman. Biggles have been an absolute must see for me every year since I discovered them, same old songs and same old jokes every year but still always entertaining and funny each time.

Fond memories of sharing a few sherberts with him at various festivals including Croissant Neuf.  I also remember Father Green conducting a "wedding service" where he renewed his vows with his partner.

Biggles were always a must see for me.  For the uninitiated Jock is in the check shirt.

Very sad news. Sure I've seen him at every Glastonbury I've been too, was a Wednesday tradition. A gentleman, lucky to have seen and met him. Will be missed.

So sad. He, with Biggles was a part of the furniture in our field for over two and a half decades. Biggles were always the opening act and played various sets throughout the Festival.

My favourite was always The Sunday Service.

Pilton really wont be the same again.

I had 4 artists in my wishlist that I posted on here. The 4th was to open my 3rd glastonbury like the previous 2, with Biggles on the bandstand. I know for sure me and our whole group would be more than up for a Jolly Jock tribute on the Bandstand. A throng of people sniffing glue sounds like a go-er to me

Truly gutted - Discovered them at Glastonbury and found out they were from my neck of the woods so have followed them ever since. I saw them only last weekend at a local club and of course at their last Glastonbury this year. The bandstand will not be the same again.
