Tuna 394 Report post Posted November 23, 2016 26th November last year... can't be far off I imagine.
dentalplan 4,778 Report post Posted November 23, 2016 I think Justice would be perfect to do Saturday and could combine it with Parklife/Wildlife and stuff. If they're not available maybe Phoenix? And unless there's a major indie band reunion on its way then Flaming Lips or Belle & Sebastian for Sunday? Either way I really ought to get down to this next year. It's got such a strong line up every year - and always even more so in hindsight.

Definitely thinking it's gonna be Justice on Saturday, not sure who could do Sunday but The Flaming Lips seems like a reasonable shout. Also, I would definitely recommend this festival. Been going for 2 years on the trot now and it's great. Although I would suggest getting there as early as you can to see bands and get a decent spot at the front. If you leave it too late you'll be at the back and you tend to get a lot of talkers.

I've also been the last two years and agree with everything you've said. Considering going again this year if the line up is to my liking and if I can afford it. They usually have a lot of acts playing other festivals though (especially Glastonbury).

It's not the festival for you if you want a good crowd that are going to actually enjoy the band. Most sets during the day are 30-40 minutes so are typically 1-2 album bands. Which is probably why it looks great in hindsight. This is definitely more true for Saturday than Sunday, actually - fewer stages and bands, longer sets, better crowds. For instance, the crowd for Ride was outstanding.
rawaudioinput 154 Report post Posted November 26, 2016 Outside Savages at Brixton Academy a lovely woman was handing out scratchcards with the main press photo for Syro printed on it Once said scratchcard was scratched it revealed the date 3rd June, the Aphex Twin logo and the twitter handle for Field Day I'm already seeing Depeche Mode that night so here's hoping he's at Glasto

You'd be hard pushed to find a folk band on a line up, especially not big lames like Fox of Fleet Street. zahidf 146 Report post Posted November 28, 2016 bbc 6 music: only one day this year, and aphex are headlining the inside second stage as a uk festival exclusive
johnl 12 Report post Posted November 28, 2016 Only one day gutted. That Sunday has been brilliant for me over last couple of years.
Tuna 394 Report post Posted November 28, 2016 I wonder why they got rid of the second day. Maybe there's a new event on at Victoria Park this year. It'll definitely sell out if it's 1 day and they have Aphex on an exclusive.
johnl 12 Report post Posted November 28, 2016 It's been taken over by Global. It looks to me as if they are already showing the same level of greed that threatens to destroy Festival Number 6 after the various debacles at that this year. Hopefully there will be a standalone event programmed for the Sunday
retromoz 32 Report post Posted November 28, 2016 dont get me wrong. Aphex Twin on record is amazing. BUT....watching him live? I cant imagine it being very enthralling.... am i wrong?
rhg_99 157 Report post Posted November 28, 2016 It's a shame that they've decided to make it one day instead of two
the wonderwhy 976 Report post Posted November 28, 2016 They've said 'consolidated' which is probably just PR speak for downgraded, but perhaps it just means they're mixing up the bookings a bit more, as opposed to having the two very distinct days.
cdm22 56 Report post Posted November 29, 2016 The two very distinct days was one of the reasons I went. All the twunts went on the Saturday leaving the rest of us to enjoy the Sunday
the wonderwhy 976 Report post Posted November 29, 2016 Yeah it was usually the Sunday that interested me more. Ah well, it was one day up until 2014 or so wasn't it?

Yep, but there was also far less of a DJ focus back when it was just on a Saturday.
