maelzoid
My friend knows somebody who lives within the catchment area for locals tickets, and said somebody has offered to let them use the address to register and hopefully qualify for tickets. Does anyone have any experience with this? My friend would essentially be changing their registration address (or maybe creating a separate registration with the same name but different address), but of course their payment method would still be tied to the original address - could this cause issues? Should my friend not risk getting caught in fraud and try for the resale like the rest of us...?

Those who live in Pilton get the option to give their allocated "free" ticket to whoever they want so your friend wouldn't have an issue. Those who live outside of that perimeter have a separate sale (I assume that's what your on about) I know there was an issue* for some who lived outside of this and had registered to addresses within it last year. I'd say if you / your mate is going to do this then create an entirely new registration and delete the not needed one. Someone else on here will hopefully be able to clarify the issues I heard about & know a bit more though. *this may be due to the amount of people said person had registered at their address. billum
You (sorry, your friend) can change their glasto registration address at any time to one that would qualify for locals tickets, and then pay with any card that is registered to any (other) address (you can always pay with a card that isn't registered at the ticket person's address), and indeed you can then ask See to send the tickets to any (other) address you like. Or of course you can also set up a new registration if that has any advantage for you. Last year, though, as JoeyT mentions, it seemed that See were getting a bit more cautious about who qualified for locals tickets, and I remember some furore about people having their postcodes rejected when trying to buy them. This might be becauase too many people were squatting on locals' addresses without having to ever be there, possibly without even the locals in question knowing that their addresses were being used! Of course this could all fall apart nastily if See reckon that the whole local tickets concession has become abused and they shut it down. Also, last year was the first time that locals' tickets went on sale in November (as far as I'm aware) - in the previous years they had gone on sale in the March before the festival, announced in the local paper. StoneCircle
All you need to know is here http://www.glastonburyfestivals.co.uk/information/tickets/local-sunday-tickets/ I believe they check the Electoral Register for eligibility. Smeble
As said above see are getting a bit more savvy about this sort of thing. there are legitimate was of obtaining locals tickets whilst not being a local, a friend( yes genuinely) of mine got her ticket this year from a local who gets free tickets, this was all done above board via GFL. Do locals need to provide proof of residency? I assume they do otherwise the system is open to abuse.

parsonjack
Tell your 'mate' that by doing this he's limiting the chances of a genuine local getting a ticket, and that he should question his conscience on whether that's fair or not. bigfurbdogg
Has anyone here bought a Sunday ticket before? How quickly do they usually sell out? Edited November 2, 2016 by bigfurbdogg

Not sure these days mate. Used to be done via a ballot system in the guardian but think this is only the 2nd year it's been an online bun fight like the normal ticket sale! I remember last year when i was trying to get a mate a ticket in the resale whenever i got an alert that the seetickets page had changed it was always Sunday tickets for sale and it seemed like they hung around for at least a few minutes, so i'm hoping they won't be too hard to get. GlastoLuvvinJock
With regards to the Sunday tickets, my missus has got them in the past using our own address in North Somerset, but she has also failed in other years, I think it's down to demand. I'm fairly sure that this year they took quite a while to sell out. As for buying a full ticket through a local address (not Pilton), it does happen but by setting up a registration at a friends address. But as mentioned above it isn't the thing to do as it will mean that a local will miss out, and if that happens too much and it becomes a hassle I imagine the festival will get rid of the local option. phillyfaddle
They don't print photos on locals' tickets for Sunday entry. A friend got in using one that someone she knew in Glastonbury genuinely couldn't use in 2013 (we had an epic fail on tickets that year). No-one checked on the gate - couldn't be arsed by then ;-) Edited November 4, 2016 by phillyfaddle typo correction
