Falcon is their best album.

I think a nice mix of all the albums is good - I wouldn't recommend one album to anyone to be honest. I like them live but can't really listen to the older stuff on record anymore, and I like the more reflective stuff the most (the opposite of the lads lads lads Manchestuuuuuuhhhh na na na live stuff, same as the way i liked Noel's songs the most in Oasis). I do really like the new album overall.

I used to love Falcon but I think it's aged terribly, and I never really liked listening to St Jude on record. Basically the opposite of most Courteeners fans!!

I ended up seeing these on Saturday (don't ask) but given it was a London crowd - notoriously shite reputation on here - I thought the atmosphere was really good. Only even been Brixton before for Pulp but I still think it's my favourite venue.

By no stretch my favourite act in the world but they put on a good show, wouldn't be surprised to see them high up on Other next year.

They make songs that are not generic

Even their biggest fans can't really believe this, surely

"Everyone's saying that you're here for me
But you're here for them
If it wasn't for me, if it wasn't for me
Then you would not even know them

You move in those circles
For a brand new squeeze
For an average girl with bad teeth
You'd do anything to please

It makes me cringe
I'd like to stick a syringe
In your arm
Sedate you, then berate you
Trying to make you
Steer clear from harm

If it wasn't for me then you wouldn't know them
If it wasn't for me then you would not know them
If it wasn't for me then you wouldn't know them

Everyone's saying that you're here for me
And that's rubbish, you're here for them
If it wasn't for me, if it wasn't for me
You wouldn't even know them

You move in those circles, what for?
For a brand new squeeze
For an average girl with a bad fringe
Who you'd do anything to please

It makes me cringe
I'd like to stick a syringe
In your arm
Sedate you, then berate you
Trying to make you
Steer clear from harm

If it wasn't for me then you wouldn't know them
If it wasn't for me then you would not know them
If it wasn't for me then you never know
If if wasn't for me then you wouldn't know them"

Nice

St Jude.

But the new one is pretty good too. Mapping the Rendezvous (it's a shit name though)

Shit name for a shit album, and I really like their earlier stuff but my god has their output got worse as they've gone on.The Kitchen is an abomination of a song.

I think you're vastly overestimating their popularity

Really? They played 3rd top on the Other stage in 2015 and 2nd top JP the time before.

If Enter Shikari can headline JP then so can Courteeners - both have a cult following.

I was always under the impression that The Courteeners were more like the Roses than Oasis.

These sound and look far more like Oasis and they are from Australia.

I think they're far more influenced by The Libertines/Pete Doherty at least on their debut. Hooligans on E is a libertines track and even St Jude is was namechecked in The Ballad of Grimaldi.

I know it's in Manchester but aren't they playing their biggest ever gig next year?

Maybe. I can't say I've followed them that closely. I just remember hearing a lot about them a few years ago, I guess when their debut came out, and thinking they were rubbish. Haven't really heard anything since so I assumed they'd kind of dropped off but maybe they haven't

Until recently I actually underestimated their popularity amongst teenagers. But yeah they're playing Old Trafford Cricket ground in May with a capacity of 50,000.
