Yesiamaduck
Not excited yet? Brace yourselves! The best outdoor stage in this country (and possibly the world) has been built! So lets take this an excuse to gush in excitement! MAN I CANT WAIT TO TAKE A SHIT IN THOSE TOILETS, always a joy! (I am being serious here) and can't wait to have a warm cider buzz for The Shins which should provide an early sing song.
juliadevitt
really excited. Have been for at least a month. It just is my favourite weekend of the year!
lamstonite
I've been buzzing about this for months! I had an operation in mid July that meant I had to cancel a couple of family camping trips, miss my cousins 50th and miss out on seeing the Yayoi Kusama exhibition in London. Gutted. Probably shouldn't be going to this either if I'm honest but I'm a lot better than I was and some things are worth the risk!
buddiepaul
Just drove up the A345 and saw the tents from the road. That as well as the yellow traffic signs certainly raised my excitement levels. Going with the family, and everyone is also now really looking forward to the best festival in the calendar. paulwa
To be honest I was excited as soon as I bought my Early Bird tickets last September. This is the highlight of the year and I can't believe I'll finally be seeing The Shins... on my birthday too! A few years ago I started listening to a great internet radio station called Radio Paradise, who helped me discover bands like The Shins, The New Pornographers, Surfjan Stevens, My Morning Jacket and others. It's been amazing to see many of these groups at EOTR.
shoebox
Excitement levels through the roof. Went to see Ezra Furman and Futur Primitif last night and that has just heightened my excitement levels. Like @paulwa, it's always the thing I look forward to most every year, and I've had pretty fun year, with more to come. But EOTR is just the BEST! Two days of work to negotiate and I'll have a little jig around the living room. The playlist will be getting a pretty solid hammering over the next couple of days. paulwa
It would be good to meet for a bevvie @shoebox. I've seen you on this forum each year and we haven't made the effort yet. My bags are already 90% packed and are near the front door, ready for the off. I just grabbed a load of nibbles and sweets from the supermarket. In all the excitement my beer stash is now part drunk, so it'll need replenishing before Thursday.
buddiepaul
I saw Grandaddy in London last week, and am clinging on to the faint hope that they could turn up as the secret headliner. I got my early bird tickets as well last year, as I was on a high after the finish in 2015. Discussions were held at the weekend and looks like next year is already pencilled in. ElGanzo
So excited, especially having missed the last two years due to work commitments. Did Green Man instead and while it's a worthy replacement nothing beats End of the Road. Can't wait for The Shins on the Thursday and the Friday lineup is incredible for me, maybe 15 acts I'd ideally like to see. Also looking forward to seeing how things have changed, new food stalls, the late night dancing at the garden stage, these new white toilets! Only disappointment is having to miss the Sunday evening, especially Teenage Fanclub (if anyone knows of anybody driving back to London on the Sunday night please let me know!) ElGanzo
Grandaddy would be absolutely incredible. Missed their London gig despite being up at 8am the day tickets went on sale. One of my favourite ever bands but I think it's quite a long shot! They have promised to come back touring in the new year though,
riverlodge
Grandaddy were pretty epic (and a bit of a coup on their comeback) last time, but potentially a bit massive for the Big Top?
airwaves
Really up for this as usual but especially so this year. 9th in a row - wish I'd done the first two also - but already know that I can't be there next (2017) as I will be in the states for 3 months from early August onwards. So here's also looking forward to 2018 :-)
snipe
I've never been before and having booked only last month it feels like it has been no wait at all. Looking forward to it even if it might drizzle a bit. Still trying to grasp the scale. It seems like you'd be able to walk from one end to the other in about ten minutes? Also from what I gather theyre fairly chill but is there any sort of seperation between arena and camping or is it like Glastonbury?
shoebox
Yeah, from the front of the Garden Stage to the front of the Woods Stage is a five minute fast walk, tops (crowds permitting). They're probably the two furthest points. Camping is separate from the arena, but you can camp pretty close to the gates closest to the Tipi Tent and the Woods Stage, so easy to quickly pop back and grab something from your tent. The arena gates just have cursory wrist-band checks, you can take your own food and drink in, should you wish to.

Camping and 'Arena' is separated but they're right next to each other. You're looking at a 10min walk AT MOST from your tent to the arena gate which is a minute or two away from the main stage. Also the gate is a wristband checkpoint only but not gated off so there are no queues (just present ur wristband as u walk by) also just in case you're wondering you can bring your own alcohol into the arena. paulwa
Cans or plastic only, if you want to take your own drinks in.
Born in the fifties
Glastonbury is an SAS training exercise compared to EOTR.

Loll, love that quote. and I can quite believe it! Really looking forward to this, as only ever having done Glastonbury ( last six years excluding this one) I am looking forward to a more chilled festival
benali
I'm very excited. Not been for the last few years after going to 7 of the first 8 festivals, including the first one. Having previously been to all the Big Chill festivals held at Larmer Tree in the 90's and the short lived Bloom festival it will feel like coming home. snipe
Thanks for the info guys. One last question (ok maybe two). Is there a shop on site for things like batteries and other stuff I'm likely to forget? I'm packing now and of course panicking I'll forget something. Also do the toilets typically have bog roll? I'll be bringing some anyway of course.
staffop
There is a shop selling basics, not sure batteries are included but i'd be surprised if not. Loos are generally well stocked with paper and hand gel, and cleaned regularly - it's all very civilised!

Berkspur
I've never been to Glastonbury but I read recently that on average at Glastonbury you walk 8-10 miles a day. Not for the unfit then!
