it doesn't cost £2m to fly a band, their crew and some gear from a major US city to Glastonbury. you could charter dozens of commercial jets for that kind of money ffs.

They gave up  a US show to play Glasto !

Already announced festiwal appearances in 2017

- Real Estate - Spain (Vida Festival) - https://www.facebook.com/Festiwaleuropejskie/photos/?tab=album&album_id=1013219032128616

- Lukas Graham - Denmark (Tinderbox) - https://www.facebook.com/Festiwaleuropejskie/photos/?tab=album&album_id=1009506192499900

- Bad Religion - Germany (Ruhrport Rodeo) - https://www.facebook.com/Festiwaleuropejskie/photos/?tab=album&album_id=1019271451523374

I'd be surprised if Lukas wasn't there but I'd equally be surprised if Bad Religion was.

It was mentioned in their book From The Ground Up which was about the 360 Tour and included  a chapter about their Glastonbury appearance.  I got it in a £ shop unbelievably.  I wonder if a publisher lost a shit load on the books as well ?

They are not my favourite band   but the hardback book is a lovely piece of work and compliments another I got from a car boot sale for £2 which documents all their tours upto  Zoo TV I think .

I think most of the £2m was the loss of a show they would have played in the US had they not appeared at Glasto

Elevation Partners Investment Group, of which Bono is one of about 6 partners, own 2.3% of Facebook. Flog half of that and he could probably buy fucking Somerset.

I was surprised Lukas Graham weren't there this year. Maybe they decided having Jamie Lawson on the Other Stage was quite enough representation for dreary one hit wonders at one festival

the one that everyone knows totally rips off the White Stripes anyway - never cared for Jet.

Just a generic blues rif to be fair, done many times before White Stripes came along.

I like Jet, got the the first (possibly only?) 2 albums and they still get the odd spin.

have cheap trick got a back catalogue to entertain the masses on the pyramid though?

seriously not sure I know anything by them other than 'surrender'

there are plenty of acts early on the Pyramid who don't really have many (or any) recognisable songs. you'd be hard pressed to find many who know more than one song by Toumani & Sidika, Gregory Porter, Babaa Maal, Angel Haze, Courtney Barnett, etc....
