I wasn't sure if you were aware V Festival was invented through Pulp wanting to play in two places in one day, and originated as pretty much a Britpop/Indie festival.

Edit: two days

But my initial comment was probably unnecessary, found it ironic though as V was pretty much set up as what would probably be seen today as indie landfill.

I'm of the minority opinion that alt-J are better (although comparing first two albums only I'm not sure). 

Imo Foals just got a bit blander when they realised they could be "rockstars"

I prefer Alt-J as well. I like them both, but Alt-J are just a bit more interesting. I don't rate Foals' best stuff as highly as other people.

Foals are better live though.

What exactly are you struggling with?

The fact they are a comparable age, in the same genre and a similar size?

Other than the fact that they both use guitars, I'm struggling to see many stylistic comparisons.
