I'd argue NME headline is more between 4th and 3rd. Haim and Flume last year I don't think could have played 3rd down main, None of the 2015 NME headliners (Limp Bizkit, Deadmau5, Rebel Sound) would have been good 3rd downs either

Deadmau5 headlined The Other Stage at Glastonbury in 2015 opposite Kanye. Same position as The Chemical Brothers.

They're different festivals though. You see lots of bands higher at R&L than they are at Glastonbury and vice versa. You could also have said 'same position as LCD Soundsystem', who'd probably be NME headliners now rather than Main stage subs.

LCD wouldn't sub Reading now.

That's what I'm saying, you were drawing comparisons saying Deadmau5 headlining the other stage means he'd be R&L sub size, but LCD also headlined the other stage and they'd be NME headliners.

First time posting, been lurking for a while!

Radio 1 seem to be playing a lot of Paramore/Royal Blood/Green Day/Foo Fighters, a lot more so than normal. Is there anything to read into this about potentially building hype for the festival?

Wild theory, just need thoughts

Welcome!

Those bands are hugely popular and always feature in any generic Radio 1 / Absolute Radio rock playlists, so I wouldn't read anything into that. The general consensus is that Royal Blood and Foo Fighters are pretty likely to headline this year tho so if that's your thing then you're probably in luck!

Speaking of Paramore:

Love it.
