Lineup 2018

Recommended Posts

Well even if you just look at day ticket shifters in the UK for festivals, Arctics I would imagine are way up there with Foos & Coldplay (which is kinda what I was trying to get at). Metallica I feel like is a good example of a massive band who I'd imagine aren't very good ticket sellers for something like R+L as they are quite niche (Metal aint exactly the most accesible genre), like if it were Download then they're huge but for R+L or Glasto, probably not...

I've been thinking about this all day and couldn't resist making the thread.

Foo Fighters
Arctic Monkeys
Kendrick Lamar

Also possible - Green Day or Florence & the Machine

I've only just clocked that the first prediction on the thread way back before the 2016 festival, pretty accurately predicted the main contenders (Besides Green Day) lmao

I'd be happy with those headliners, at least i get to watch 1 out of 3 unlike 0 out of 3 this year lol

This year on the friday I watched about two songs from Kasabian, opted to watch Danny Brown's full set and the last 10 minutes of You Me At Six instead, on the Saturday I watched all of Eminems set and on the Sunday I watched Muse for about three songs, opting to watch bits of Marshmello, Neck Deep and The Hunna.

If it was Kendrick, Foo's and Royal Blood I'd probably end up watching all of Kendrick, most of Foo's, probably a few songs from Royal Blood. I do rate all three of those higher than this year's headliners imo. (Prefer RB to Kasabian, Kendrick to Em and Foo's to Muse)

Yeah this year i watched YM@6 instead of Kasabian, Andy C instead of Eminem and Neck Deep instead of Muse (although i did catch Brian Johnson on stage and finished up the rest of Muse as i went for food during Neck Deep) I'd watch all the Foos, Kendrick doesn't appeal to me and i passed up on the Artics last time they headlined! But i'm happy when you get a little something for everyone!

Totally agree on that one. I'd rather three different headliners that appeal to different people than ones that just appeal to me or a certain group of people.

I'm assuming they were in with a fairly decent shot at appearing next year what with it being their farewell tour and cancelling a couple of years ago, but Jessy Lacey of Brand New has been accused of soliciting nude pictures from a 15 year old, so I'm guessing their goodbye is about to be pushed forward some :( Awful to hear if true, especially after their new was so incredible (and my AOTY by a long stretch).

yea, really cut up over this. one of my absolute favourite bands and their music got me through a lot so this is really sad for me, had tickets for their gig in dublin next week now i’m glad i’m missing it, such a shame

There are quite a few biggest band lists on the net. Arctic monkeys only feature on one and they are 8th. My pal watched them at sxsw with about 10 other people.

I mean, the first link I clicked on (Radio X) when I googled "Biggest Bands In The World" had them 3rd under AC/DC and Arcade Fire (it had Biffy at 4, so maybe not the best list lol)

Completely agree, similar to how people were saying Johnny Depp can't play glasto based off an accusation. We have a justice system for a reason and with these attitudes anyone can ruin anyone's career by an accusation.

yeah i’m aware of that viewpoint, don’t worry. it’s just the possibility that jesse did something like that is upsetting as it’ll definitely soil my view of a band that i adored for a long time if true, cause obviously i don’t fuck with what he’s been accused of. definitely don’t want it to be true but it’s probably wise to prepare for the worst considering what kinda year 2017 has been

He doesn’t mention it or deny it at all in his apology here which I’d say is pretty conclusive.

I'm guessing mentioning that specific incident/her being underage would open up a whole load of other legal things that he'd rather avoid. Admitting to infidelity and being an overall creep in the past is one thing, but admitting to soliciting child pornography and w*nking on webcam to a minor... that's a different thing entirely. People seem pretty cynical over his statement, which I get as it's a little 'woe is me', but it seems like the best he can say in such short notice without lawyering up or giving himself a one way ticket to jail.

Oh I completely agree, I just think that releasing a statement in response to the allegations and then just tiptoeing around it without every denying it says it all.

Interested to see what this means for Brand New. I see one of their support acts for this tour has already pulled out - wonder if the promoters will do the same for this week's UK leg/the rest.

The Jesse Lacey news sucks big time, when given proper thought though the whole thing doesn't surprise me. The emo/hardcore scene has long been thought to be absolutely littered with people like this.

Jason Tate of Chorus FM saying he believes the accusations to be true is pretty damning to be honest.

Yeah I think those shows are gone. The response seems pretty genuine but a lack of denial and asking for forgiveness certainly isn't a short term fix. If they're sticking to their current timeframe of existence then it's hard to see promoters willing to work with them in plotting shows before the end of next year.

The situation in which this came about - a guy asking people on his Twitter/Facebook if they had any shady shit on Jesse Lacey - is quite weird and just makes me think this has been known about in some way for a while.

Eddie from Taking Back Sunday commented on his Facebook post with a smiley face so I'm guessing Jesse being a bit of a piece of shit is a factor in their seemingly ongoing beef. And there was me thinking it was a member of TBS who was in the wrong.

I thought it was a shitty response to be honest. I get all the legal shit but to make it all about yourself and blaming it on being a sex addict is pretty poor. The thing is very similar to what happened with JANK (Lou Diamond is a fucking scumbag) and they weren't a band much longer after his "apology" and I see the same thing happening here.
