They're not a possibility for 2018. The band and their manager have both said October 2018 is when they kick off touring again.

dentalplan
Naw. Slaves festival slots this year certainly indicate they're on the way down a bit. They ain't headlining NME or doing a secret set there - they'd probably just do a normal slot around 6-7pm on it or headline FR.

Andre91
Yeah, Slaves aren't going to be playing anything over NME sub I don't think. Thankfully people seem to have hopped off that hype train. Enter Shikari's new album is wonderful so they should definitely book them

Maybe another stage opener set for him? Also, Slaves, another band who have frequently done the festival also missed last year, I reckon a main stage middle of the day to afternoon would be a good shout for them. If people are suggesting bands like Catfish to be co-headliners, what about someone like The 1975, while probably not quite big enough yet, I think if their third album is as successful as their previous two they will get their headliner status. I'm sure Frank will be there, he has a new album in the works. He'll be in his usual realm of 3rd/4th main stage or high up NME, the opening main stage slot being a one-off

ChristovGiant
Nah its a new superband, R&L exclusive. Must have had the 1975 on the brain, I've had their debut album on this morning while putting that together
Andre91
Prophets of Rage wouldn't sub the NME. I think they'd sub the Main Stage.

I still think they're comfortably an arena sized band and won't bother with R&L if offered lower than a sub slot. I think they're more likely to clean up with the Euro rock fests in June / July either way.

It was a stretch for them to sub in 2016, and this album has done even less than the one they were touring then. Bit like Biffy, they can't dine out on Night Visions forever. ChristovGiant
About Prophets of Rage subbing main- I think its just about justified at Download (especially seeing as Them Crooked Vultures did it in 2010) but I don't think it would be realistic at R&L these days. They barely sold out a single Brixton show in June and yes it was brilliant, but I just don't think they're that big a draw for the audience that goes now. The new album hasn't been as well received as the last album. Even Night Visions wasn't worth making them headline, this album surely not. Can see them topping NME up against a rap or heavy main stage headliner though.
