Hi everyone,

Appologies if this has been asked before but what's the best thing to do/ best place to go when the entrance to the south east corner/shangri-la changes at 10.30. If I'm heading to the normal entrance and get there at 10.31 will It be completely closed off? How strict are they? Also any general advice on when to go down there and how long have people qued to get in?

Thankyou

Emily

You'll be able to access the SE corner from just past the Avalon stage once the entrance on the rail road closes at 22:30. I'm not sure how strictly the daytime/evening entrance closure is however the late night entrance is just around the corner. I've never had much of a queue, if any, when using the late night entrance. There is normally a bit of a queue to get in straight after the headliners on the main stages have finished, but nothing too major.

Thanks I was wandering as I was there the year they first introduced the second gate entrance and I have some vague memories of a sign that said 2 hour que, we've almost totally avoided it since and wasn't there last year so not sure how much it's changed!

I've never known it to be that much of a wait, maybe when the entrance was first introduced the queues may have been longer but certainly recently they've been fine. This is Glasto however so never say never!

It's changed since then. That year they made you walk all the way around by the fence from near the theatre tent, and I guess if that had been chocka full of people it could have been 2 hours (although I suspect that was just to try and put people off, certainly never took us anything like that). Now you go in from Bella's Field (Cabaret tent) and it doesn't take that long to get in - plus there are loads of good distractions in that field, Sensation Seekers etc.

They are pretty strict at stopping people getting in via the railway line during those hours, I wouldn't bother trying. I believe there is a story of a steward stopping Michael Eavis going that way!

I'm not sure what it's like now, but in 2008 the were incredibly strict.

In that year entrance was still via the railway line and Arcadia was on the north side opposite where the Unfair Ground is now. I was in Arcadia and wanted to use the toilets. Knowing there were some just outside Arcadia on the railway line I went up there only to find stewards throwing up a cordon. "Can I go to the toilets over there" I asked, pointing to the long drops a few metres away. "Sorry, you'll have to go round" came the reply. So giving this up as a bad job I decided to go back into Arcadia. Only to find that entrance was now blocked as well.

It's a bloody long walk round just to end up at the same place when you're bursting for a piss!

thankyou for the info deffinatley won't be writing it off as one long que! I think from experience that it was also because once we were inside there were more ques to get into all the different venues inside but it's such a big attraction I guess that's always going to happen, maybe I'll go while Adele's on :)

They are really strict.

Even on getting out the right way! We had just reached the "entrance" after I had a full on anxiety attack in Shangri La, I was pretty hysterical pleading with them to let me out and the stewards wouldn't let us get out that way demanding we turn around and go back through the crowd.

Thankfully a really lovely supervisor clocked it and escorted me out through the entrance, sat me down in bellas field at the bar and made sure that I was ok before he went back to the queue.

Yeah, the gates are strict - you won't sneak in that way (at least not without a twix.....). We went during Kanye last year (I really liked the HELL lineup on Saturday night last year) and it was really pleasant - easy to get around and into the micro-venues. That obviously changed as soon as the headliner finished, and it was still pretty rammed at 3 when I hung up my glowsticks for the night.
