Coach travel help

Hello all,

just a question or two about the See Ticket Coaches..

I was fortunate enough to get tickets for the second year running but this year we're going by coach. I understand that you're not allowed to take big bulky trolleys on with you as it is unfair on the other passengers but we still want to take in enough cans to last us the 5 days.

I've bought the two wheeler trolley off the eFestivals site a few months back but haven't set it up yet.

My thought is that I could possibly turn up with that (still folded down) and say a 30 litre underbed storage box full of cans. Taking them both on to the coach with me, sat on mine and a friends lap and then our actual rucksacks in the undercarriage.

Then setting the trolley up and chucking the box of cans on it when we get to the promised land.

would this be okay or would we be turned away from the coach?

do you have any better ideas?

cheers,

Cian

Precise implementation of the rules will vary by driver & coach company, but I'd say as a rule of thumb bulky items etc won't be allowed onto the seats.because of H&S. You need to assume that anything you bring needs to either go in the hold, under the seat in front of you, or if your coach ends up having them the lockers above the seats.

But ultimately nobody can say for sure whether you'll be turned away or not.

It simply comes down to how much space there is - most drivers will do their best to fit everything on, but if they can't then it's the people taking the piss (which in this case would definitely include you) who'll have their stuff left behind.

It's a risk, not sure I'd be willing to take it, but plenty people have reported that they were able to get all their stuff on, while (an ancedotaly smaller number of) others have reported they've had to leave stuff behind.

I have sort of accepted that having a coach ticket means I wont be able to carry many cans with me this year.

Wouldn't be fair if someone's tent etc got left behind because the coach was full of booze.

I have never travelled to Glastonbury by coach before though so someone who has might have a better idea of how much you can carry.

If you are with a group when you get there it might be an idea to all chip in for a cab to the nearest supermarket and just a couple of you go off and get the supplies whilst everyone else waits at the gates to help you carry it in!

2014 (last time we used the coaches) we took a 2 wheel sack barrow, loaded it and cling filmed it (mainly with booze) and it wasn't an issue BUT I'd have a plan B (or prepare to lose the trolley) just in case. Get there early and make sure your stuff is first in the luggage compartment, less likely to unload it all just to lob your stuff then!

I'm just taking spirits and a few cans for the first drink of the day each day at the tent, I'll buy mixers and cider/beer from the bars there. I'd rather not risk having to leave stuff behind when getting on the coach.

I've got the coach twice and it didn't matter how early you arrived, as everyone gathered before the coaches got there.

make sure you're at the front of the queue then - there's always been a queue when i've gotten one. never had a problem with bringing a trolley/load of shite on with me myself, although it obviously does happen

I think I'll take @Kneale's approach to this, just have to see what the rest of my group fancy doing now really!

Yes, I've been fortunate enough that's what I was able to do too, which as a lazy git I was delighted about, as I didn't have too much heavy stuff.

I've never had any problems taking things on the see coaches. As long as you're not taking the piss they are usually completely fine. It's the people who turn up with what looks like the contents of their house that they are most picky about because of the space issue

I've always been on the coach and been totally fine with a 60L rucksack. sleeping bag and self inflatable roll attached, a tent and two of the large supermarket bags for life filled with at least 24 cans, spirits and food.

With spending on site for mixers and proper meals, it's always been more than enough.
