Carrying Pop Up Tents

Arguably this could be on another topic, but I wanted to get wider responses.

It's all about carrying those pesky disks - popup tents.  I've never had to carry one very far and when I have before it's always been a right pain.  I can't work out the best way to carry them.  If strapping them to my rucksack, how exactly?  I tried to Google for people carrying them, to no avail.  Does anyone have detailed instructions on how to comfortably carry these long distances.  With photos if possible!

Also, do you keep it strapped on when shoving your rucksack in the coach?

It's such a minor thing, but I can see this being my number 1 annoyance when carrying all my gear if I don't get it right.  Pics of my 3 man pop up are below.

EDIT: I'm travelling by coach, so I don't have a trolley. I know it can be done, but I've seen them not get onto coaches too often to be worth the risk.

Mine was always placed on top of the trolley - almost horizontol when the trolley (A sack truck type) was being pushed.

Ours is disc shaped but it is a 4 man one with a middle bit type affair so is heavy!

Forgot to mention, I'm going by coach so not risking taking a trolley in case there's no room.  Edited post.

Ahhh, no worries.

Depending on the size of the disc and the size of your rucksack it may well go across the top? I swear by bungee cords to fasten things to my rucksack (and the aformentioned trolley).

Sorry cant be more help!

I hang it around the back of my neck with the carrying handle, on my quecha its long enough to do so and its not that heavy it does any damage.

Usually have my main pack on my back the tent on my front and I carry my daybag with 1 arm.

yep mine is the same, there's one long thin strap that just goes over my head and onto my back

does yours have the long thin strap Stu?

I'm going to use my old popup's bag with my new tent (the same one as in the picture), because it has small loops which I use to tie it to my trolley with bungee cords and add a holdall strap to help carry it comfortably.

If that wasn't an option, I think I'd loosen the strap shown in the photo as far as it would go and carry it under my arm like an oversized handbag. That leaves me free to pull my trolley with my other arm, although I'd wrap something around the strap because it's pretty thin and will quickly start cutting into your shoulder.

I really wish there was more help for coach/train arrivals. I would like some sort of shared trolley system where you knew you had to wait for half an hour but everyone say going to a particular field could pay a charity fee and then you all went together behind the trolley.

Am dreading getting all our stuff from Gate A and we're only going to Wicket. It will all hinge on how much Kevin the Teenager decides he can carry on the day.

A lot of festivals have companies near the car parks and coach stops with wheelbarrow type things you can hire to carry your stuff. I know glasto has lock ups but I'd rather not make two trips from gate A

I just carry my quechua with the small handle at the top. Need to get out of the habit of rolling/bouncing it as I go along though as the bag is starting to show wear at the bottom!

Other hand is used to carry my day bag, and obviously my big rucksack is on my back. Seems to work well coming from the coach with minimal fuss.

Yeah that sounds about right for me as well.

I say sounds, because I'm not actually certain - I just carry the thing with no real thought given to it. Can't say I've ever noticed a particular issue in the way some people seem to, but then I'm quite militant and efficient when it comes to packing light generally so I'm not laden down with loads of other stuff, just a tent and a basic 75l rucksack.

Two Hats, I couldn't help notice that you were opened up the idea of pop up tents in a previous thread, so I take you just bought one?? If so, what did you get, because I'm looking for a 3 man pop up too :)

I bought the QUECHUA 2 SECONDS EASY III FRESH&BLACK POP UP TENT - 3 MAN

https://www.decathlon.co.uk/2-seconds-easy-iii-freshblack-pop-up-tent-3-man-id_8357353.html

I've not put it up yet, but the idea of getting even 1 extra hours sleep a night was too good to refuse - at my age and level of health anyway!

I've been eyeing up that baby ever since they were first mentioned on here
