David Bowie RIP

I work in a primary school.

Today I overheard an 11 year old (well done his parents) in the lunch line talking to his friend and trying to explain who Bowie was and why he was so important.

'He was like Roald Dahl, but for music.'

Perfect.

November 2003 I was meant to be going to see Radiohead at Earls Court, when my music journo friend contacted me and asked if I wanted to go and see Bowie, as he had a +1.  I gave away my Radiohead ticket, and it's still the one of the best decisions I've ever made.  So glad I got the chance to see him live, it was an incredible night.

On BBC2 later also. You wonder if Shangri-La's theme could have a Bowie / Ziggy theme but probably already planned by now?

I'd imagined they would managed to get something small in to mark his passing, bit like (and not the same situation ) with the Bono Shrine.

Weird to see the news when I got up, posted in general discussion to but I always thought there was that small chance of getting to see him live. No more :(

6 Music has been spot on with its tributes all day. I've listened to Blackstar for the first time and The Next Day again to, what a way to go out, Currently listening to Bowie: A Reality Tour on spotify.

I thought I'd managed to keep the lump in the back of my throat under control then I finally saw this on Twitter...

I only started going to Glastonbury in 2003 and saw many great performances but Bowie in 2000 looked amazing.

R.I.P Mr Bowie.

Bearing in mind how unreliable Facebook can be, I saw someone earlier saying an itv news presenter said Emily Eavis had confirmed Bowie's 2000 performance would be shown at this years' festival. I was watching BBC news rather than itv, so didn't see it. Can anyone confirm or deny?

I've seen that said in a few places so yeah, i think it's happening. i've never gone to watch anything at the cinema or whatever because i've always thought it was a bit of a waste of time what with everything else going on, but i'd fucking love to see that. fingers crossed it's on on the Thursday or early bells another day so that i have the opportunity to see it
