It has been an amazing years. Fans of Americana would like Chris Stapleton and James McMurty albums. Every genre of music have had great years mayb not metal unless someone can prove me wrong.

Deafheaven and Rolo Tomassi were both great releases for metal

..can I also thank Ryan Adams for turning a horrible album into a beautiful one?

Ryan Adams can also turn a great house party with all your friends into an evening in alone, staring at yourself in the mirror, thinking about important man's feelings and how to look sensitive when wearing a lumberjack shirt and boots.

I should stop using the website when drunk.

Even joking that Coldplay's new album is good deserves a ban.

Those monkeys are fun though

Haha I got half way through your post about the Coldplay album and though "surely a joke". Looked at who'd posted and decided "Yep, definitely a joke" :P

Torres - Sprinter

Courtney Barnett - Sometimes I Sit And Think, And Sometimes I Just Sit

Tame Impala - Currents

Hop Along - Painted Shut

Chvrches - Every Open Eye

Lanterns On The Lake - Beings

Sleater Kinney - No Cities To Love

Wolf Alice - My Love Is Cool

Rather fond of the newest releases from Speedy Ortiz, Foals, Of Monsters & Men and John Carpenter, too.

They were trashing my house and was the only way I could get them to leave. :(

I don't know. He praised Tame Impala's latest effort as the best album of the year so there's the possibility he's just really boring.

Pond releasing their best album yet in 2015 and Tame Impala releasing their worst must be connected. Kevin Parker is done boooo.

Anymore AOTY lists come out? Mojo's one is ok. Not as Dad rock as their readership would suggest:

In no particular order:

John Grant

Joanna Newsome

Tobias Jesso Jr

D'Angelo and the Vanguard

Kurt Vile

Tame Impala

Kendrick Lamarr

New Order

Maccabees

Courtney Barnett

Listening to Jim O'Rourke and Stephen Wilson currently - they could make it in too. Its been a good year.

If pushed Maccabees might be my favourite of the year.

good lad.

Steven is definitely my number 1 for the year. There has been so much good music this year I could struggle to fit a top 10 together but Steven Wilson is clearly number 1 for me. Outstanding album.

Yeah, I am genuinely surprised by it - it just keeps on giving.

If you're into Steven Wilson give Riverside's new album a listen - another that would definitely be in my top 10 for the year. It's called 'Love, Fear and the Time Machine'. Prog rock from Poland. They used to be a lot heavier but have reverted over the years. Good stuff.

In order:

Ezra Furman

Viet Cong

Floating Points

Bill Ryder-Jones

Mbongwana Star

Staves

Still a few to catch up on, usually some good suggestions on this here forum.

That new Bill Ryder-Jones song is really rather surprisingly spiffing.
