Campervan Tickets in resale

Sadly, the word from the man in charge of ticketing for Glastonbury is this ...

"My strong belief is that all campervan passes will be sold before April."

(I asked him for the exact same reasons as you.)

The only way around it, I guess, is if you're able to find someone who already has a ticket who is willing to buy your CV ticket and who will meet you nearby and enter with you.

There's bound to be a few people who buy cv tickets who then don't go or people who buy cv tickets and then decide to tent it instead. With no option of private resale, they will go into the resale pot along with entry tickets. Can't imagine the numbers being large though.

It does seem to be something of a cock up.  Want to go in a campervan but didn't get tickets in the main sale.  Have to wait for the resale, by which time all the campervan tickets will have gone.

It may help GFL's cashflow but it's hard on those who missed out in the initial sale and want to CV.

There'll be a few, as the resale will include cancelled CV tickets just as it includes 'cancelled' (ie not paid up) normal tickets. From http://www.glastonburyfestivals.co.uk/information/accommodation/info-campervans-and-caravans/, second para:

"If you book a campervan ticket and later change your mind, refunds are available prior to the ticket refund deadline; subject to an administration charge of £10."

The change to selling the tickets in October makes no difference to the people who didnt get a main ticket on Sunday, the van passes were always all sold before the resale as they went on sale in April with the balance payment window.

The main difference is that previously, if you missed out on Sunday, you could get a friend to buy you a van pass in April and then you took your chance in May with the reales.

This change has introduced some complications for sure but not along the lines that have been mentioned earlier, there is still the option of getting a friend to buy it but then you have lots to sort out with travel arrangements.

I mentioned in another thread that i saw at least 2 lots of van passes for sale in the secret resales in May so there is hope.

PS i suspect i know a way around some of these issues after the experiences i had last year but i won't say incase things have changed and i give people false hope, all i know is that if i had missed out on Sunday, i would be trying them anyway.

I feel that if I cannot get a campervan pass , I would rather not go. Not sure if that's me being stubborn or my body saying a tent .you fool..not at your age ..45 ..would anyone else miss Glastonbury if they can't get a pass

We wouldn't either. Can't do the dragging everything across site again. Plus we built the van for festivals in the first place.

Same here,we have camped in campervan fields for the last two years and Worthy view before that,I happily camp at other festivals but Glastonbury has come too much, with all the camping being on the west now and car parks on the east and the fact that at Glastonbury you need more stuff to make the longer stay comfortable, its too much of a slog especially on the Monday morning.

If they'd only shift the whole festival to the west a bit and put some camping to the east I'd probably go.

alternative off site  campervan camping seems an option but I reckon that will fill up before the resale of tickets and any spare cv tickets ,so I think you almost have to decide now if you want to go this way...and take a large rucksack and leave it in the lock ups ...not the same but an option ,and there is always a chance if you book now you still might not get a ticket in the resale....

The camping thing is what stopped us going to Glasto for years, I've got a knackered back & the wife has epilepsy (fortunately not photosensitive) so we both need a good comfortable bed.

If I can't get a CV pass I'll be cancelling my ticket - can't afford to go glamping, wont go camping. Besides it'll give me a reason to continue the restoration of my VW T2 Bay (which hopefully will get it's third Glasto CV pass on the window in 2016).

I have just looked at the Love Fields, they do a take your own campervan / caravan option, its obviously quite a bit more expensive than the normal pass but its nowhere near what i have paid previously for Windinglake. If you really would only go in a van then this could be an option?

I wouldn't say they've dropped a clanger with this or its short sighted at all, ultimately just like the festival its oversubscribed, they will either sell all the tickets comfortably in October or in April, better for them to sell them all sooner and have the cash now rather than wait until two months before the festival. who knows what the people who own the fields that are used are demanding now? Perhaps they want payment sooner?

Another point is that if you actually have a ticket for the festival now, shouldn't you have the opportunity to buy a camper van ticket before somebody who doesn't have a ticket yet?

There is parking in west and camping in east of the site so not sure why you think there isn't! We always park and camp east. There are also campervan fields in both east and west! I'm too old to walk up and down the hills and outside the fence just to have a campervan or worthy view! Camping for me everytime!!

Not wishing to give false hope, but there might be more cv tickets in the resale than in the past (ie some rather than none).  When cv tickets only became available, and sold out, in the april balance payment window, it was highly unlikely there would be any cancelled in the 2 weeks before the resale, not least because they'd been bought by people definitely paying their ticket balance.  However there will now be 6 months for people to change their minds or need refunds for other reasons, so there could well be some available.  There is the option to recruit a ticket holder who  can travel into the site with you to get you a cv ticket in the hope you're successful in the resale. Maybe worth betting the £10 of having to surrender it if you're not lucky?

This was going to be my approach, but I've been lucky to get tickets. If anyone without tickets can link up with a ticket holder, then if the latter is prepared to give up an hour of their time, they can get you in on their named CV ticket, certainly on East (eg phone them once you get to that turn off corner (purple route?) and CV East continue along the road to Pyll Lane). I saw festival goers walking about the inspection area, so it should be ok to then get up to the entry point in the next field to join the CV and get the vehicle in.  However, this is a bit of a H&S/security nightmare on random people walking all over, so stewards must be able to communicate up to each other if this isn't allowed, to then let the van in?

I may be misreading your post, and it's not clear how named cv tickets will work in practice, but I  think the cv ticket holder would have to be entering the site for the first time along with the campervan, so best to meet some distance from the festival.  If the cv ticket is part of the general admission ticket it will be retained by stewards when the holder first goes in.

yes, that's what I meant, by the camper coming out to meet the van at the field entranceentrance, which I think is about 1 field from the stewards' inspection area. Very impractical, but possible, I think.

  • 2 weeks later...

I  plan to buy a campervan ticket for a friend who was unlucky, but hopefully will get a ticket in the resale.

I will be travelling in his van, so there shouldn't be a problem. If he doesn't get a ticket in the resale, I will still have time to claim a refund on the campervan ticket.

Another friend thinks I wouldn't be able to claim a refund for my campervan ticket, without refunding my festival ticket too.  I feel sure that it is possible to return a campervan ticket with a £10 admin fee, so long as it is before the ticket refund deadline. Without returning my festival ticket as well.

Can anyone help me here, with what seems like a never-ending discussion/argument with friend no.2 ?
