I'd like to take a campervan to Glastonbury, does anyone know how you go about booking a campervan space?, not sure if I even have to but I've had to at other festivals before.

If you do have to book a campervan space then when do you book it? Is it when you pay your deposit in October? or is it in april when you pay your outstanding ticket balance?

Nope.  It's different this year.  The GFL site says:

Campervan tickets for 2016 will be released as part of the accommodation sale, alongside Worthy View and Tipis in mid-late October. Further information about this sale will be released after the main ticket sales.

I wonder how this will work. Our son has been lucky in getting us tickets over the years (and fingers crossed for T Day!).

We do, however, camp differently with husband and I in a motorhome and would therefore need a campervan ticket.

If campervan tickets are to be in the name and number of the lead booker, then we would have a ticket in his name and number different from our own!

Um??

This was part of the reason why i emailed the festival to clarify the campervan pass arrangements, they have confirmed that the pass is non transferrable in any circumstances and trying to do something with it may lead to the cancellation of your actual festival tickest (thats how their reply came across to me anyway). They weren't clear on the lead booker issue, so i have asked them a more direct question as this could cause me problems too as i'm part of a group of 6 trying for each other so i've questioned if i need to be the first of the details entered by the group if any of us get through.

For Dillyblue, this should be easy for you to get round, you just make sure your son puts one of you down first when entering the registration details and then you will definately be the lead booker, or he could travel with you possibly as there's nothing to stop him going into the campervan fields and then into the camping area's.

Its a bit more complicated for me as none of the others will be travelling with me and we will pay all of our deposist monies back seperately to whoever manages to get through

surely it means when they go on sale you book them with the reg number of those using them - not the original lead booker for your tickets

They will be like Worthy View camping you'll be able to book it to a ticket when ordering I think - that will then be the 'lead' booker

Thats what i have asked GFL to confirm, it would be logical but the info provided so far doesnt make it clear, i have always bought passes before either under my name or my godsons name and on all occasions we have been the first on the list ticket booking list.

I belive it will be as you state above but its best to confirm

We book in a group and get 2 CV tickets and parking tickets. I emailed GFL and received an answer saying it 'shouldn't be an issue' with the 1 name as a group booking. However, I don't know how this will be received by the stewards if we arrive and enter separately, or how they would interpret this response. Do I get the lead booker to trudge up to the CV entry point... Bit worried as to how this will all work out.

Not sure, but my reply from GFL makes me think the tickets go to the lead booker address, where the lead booker is the one who buys the parking tickets for a group. I wonder if/how the system will allow multiple tickets to the be assigned to that 1 lead booker. Edited by carlosj

GFL have replied in double quick time.

" It would be a seperate transaction, your registration number would have its own deposit against it, so you would be eligible to try yourself in the campervan sale. Your details would then be on the any campervan tickets you purchased"

Lovely jubbly, one less headache to worry about over the next 2 weeks - now just the small matter of 50000 page refresh presses in 20 minutes!:)

Great, this makes sense.

So Booker A can buy tickets for him/her and five others.

And then any of those five others can book a camper van ticket for themself in October.

Just how Worthy View works today.

Good luck Dillyblue hope your son and you are successful!

that's it exactly

But doesn't this mean that there is no chance for anyone in the resale to get a campervan ticket.

Last year I got a friend to get me a campervan ticket when they paid for their tickets, and then (thankfully) got some tickets in the resale.

Or can I buy a campervan ticket on my registration number even if I'm not successful on the 4th?  It would be riskier because I couldn't then sell it on if unsuccessful in the resale too.

I'm thinking that you must have a ticket to then buy a CV ticket.

We did exactly the same, when we failed to get tickets last October. Like you, we were lucky in the Resale - and already had a campervan ticket, thanks to friends. This year, we think that if we fail on the 4th, we'll ask friends (who we can travel with) to get us a ticket. If we fail in the resale, then we'll just have to stand the admin fee to return the campervan ticket - which I guess will work in the same way as normal ticket returns.

By the same token, it therefore seems likely that there will be some mechanism to buy returned campervan tickets. Hope we don't have to test the system though! Good Luck everyone.

doubt it they are expected to be non-transferable and linked to the lead booker this year.

Have they not said that in the past? In reality, like secret garden party, there might be a surname on there, but not all in the bookers party will have the same beams, and are they really going to iD check vans?

no it's a new system this year - don't know how it will work yet. But it will rely on a person in the van being matched to the campervan pass - as it's for the vehicle not the occupants.

But you don't get people flogging Worthy View accommodation like that, so however that's done I guess this will be the same as this year they go on sale at the same time this year.

Or perhaps they'll have your photo on - as they'll use your ticket details - just dunno the mechanism yet. Apart from the fact they will be non-transferable.
