what didn't help was there had been rabid Bruce fans on this forum for 6 months before the festival started insisting he was the best thing ever ever and that his live show would blow anyone and everyone away.

Sadly the reality was a desperately tedious performance of dull plodding songs. Awful. Only jay z comes close in worst headliner I've seen (and I saw kanye!)

Pehaps gorillaz were worse though, I wouldn't know as I wasn't moronic enough to see them, I was watching flaming lips putting in one of the best other stage gigs of all time

Wouldn't call it moronic. At the time they were announced as headliner replacement, I was delighted. Loved their stuff. It just didn't work on the day. Hindsight and all that.

Also not really arsed I missed Flaming Lips either. Not a huge fan of them. Find all the stage invasions and distractions they set up a mask for some incredibly mediocre music. But that's just my opinion.

They were unbelievably bad, think we lasted 20 minutes before escaping and starting the long journey to Shangri-La  (I think it was there anyway)

I loved their headline set but then I'm a massive Gorillaz fan and was just so excited to finally be seeing them. Didn't get the criticism until I went to their O2 gig where they were infinitely better & Damon actually interracted with the crowd.

Really hope they do return so they can make up for the last one, would be amazing to see them on West Holts.

The sad thing is that Plastic Beach was probably their best album, I loved that record and was really excited to see them at that point in their career.  That the gig was such a train wreck, combined with the fact that I missed an absolute classic gig on the Other stage to see it is still one of my greatest Glastonbury regrets.

Yup! It should have been amazing! And I think maybe if it had been planned from the start rather than a late replacement it could have been!
