I have been wanting to comment this for quite a while so here I go.

I have been going to Leeds Festival ever since 2008 every year, and 2008 was a VERY strong, and personally my favorite year. They had 3 of the top headliners at the time(and my favorite band Metallica!)

Also, 2015 was another great year! Metallica again headlining, Limp Bizkit and overall was a good year.

I feel like the Festivals between 2009-2014 especially lacked big rock names. It is supposed to be a rock festival after all. Now don't get me wrong, I love having uniqueness at Leeds for things like dance, grunge, dubstep etc. But assign those artists to their respective genres tents!! The main stage should be there for the big bands such as Metallica, and both times they have headlined the festival it has been amazing.

I VERY MUCH DOUBT this will happen, but Metallica should return as they released an album on the 18th November(and I very much recommend it!) Also would love to see other guests such as Green Day, Bring Me The Horizon, Limp Bizkit and other big rock names. Even go as far as a couple ofrappers, dance acts etc. But not as headliners! 3 big names should deservedly be headliners.

it's not really "supposed" to be anything, they'll try and book what's popular among the demographic for the most part

Not band from 2015 will be headlining again, it's way too soon.

Reading rarely books someone to headline who isn't deserving, this year they had RHCP, Biffy, Foals, Fall Out Boy and Disclosure, all those bands have done enough to justify a headline slot in reality.

They're never going to be able to book 3 huge acts to headline, this year looks set to be Kasabian / Muse / Eminem which will be one of the strongest trios they've ever had in terms of size if it does come true.

Reading is a festival for music that is currently popular, of course people the biggest dance and hip-hop artists should be getting high placings or headlining.

If you want a rock festival then there's Download, Reading is anything alternative.

Arctic Monkeys, Radiohead, Kings of Leon, Blink 182, Guns N' Roses, Queens of the Stone Age, The Libertines, Paramore, Biffy Clyro, Weezer, Muse, The Strokes, Pulp, The Cure, Foo Fighters, Kasabian, The Black Keys, Green Day, System of a Down, Foals, Fall Out Boy and Nine Inch Nails are not "big rock names" to you?

The reaction to Metallica was lukewarm at best; R&L isn't their home anymore to be perfectly honest

WTAF? It was the busiest day of the weekend by far. they were pretty boring though, Ghost blew them away for my money.

Go Download mate, doesn't matter which year as they turn up and get asked to sign up for the following year there and then.

Everyone should know by now that R&L won't just go out and purely look for the biggest rock band then can find - they understand that the festival has evolved and is still evolving and they book to suit that exact changing demographic.

IMO, it makes no difference to them whatsoever if they get Guns instead of Eminem or visa versa..

If you're really that bothered about having rock across the board or at least headlining all three nights, there are plenty of festivals out there for you...Take Rock Werchter for example, looking amazing so far this year!
