Arriving at Thursday lunchtime? Which campsite?

Hey,

We're arriving by coach at lunchtime on the Thursday and we're wondering where there will still be good places to camp?

We don't mind walking and really would prefer a quiet nights sleep.

It's our first time and we're worried we'll be by a path somewhere where it's going to flood!

Thanks!

Zoë

Don't worry. If you're not set on a specific field, and don't mind being a bit further from the main stages / late night areas, then you'll have plenty of options.

Off the top of my head, I'd expect there still to be plenty of space in Lime Kiln, Hitchin Hill, Darble, and a few other "less fashionable" locations. You'll also find that those "less fashionable" locations tend to be the quieter ones.

The best advice though is to not plan it ahead of time. Immediately after you go through Gate A, somewhere very close by there should be a massive sign with a map of the festival site showing precisely how much space is left in the various camping fields. This map is frequently updated by a team of friendly Campsite Stewards. It depends exactly when you arrive but it's very likely that one or more of those friendly Campsite Stewards will be on hand and can talk you through the options as they stand at that precise moment, and point you in the right direction.

The only reason people arriving late get stressed out about space is because they have their heart set on a particular location - if you're prepared to go wherever, then you'll have no issues.

Basically, once you're through the Gate, look for something like this..

It always amazes me how many people ignore the incredibly useful resources & advice on offer, and instead determinedly head for a field that's marked as full - they're the ones that end up camping on a path or downhill from the toilets.
