Headliners 2016

You never know, maybe Emily wanted to break the mould of having heritage acts, or acts they already booked in the last few years, and lucky Foals were in the right place at the right time, and were bumped to headliner. I think very unlikely given the fact they didn't bump Florence last year until they had to, and always just want to give the "biggest" bands the slots for a fear of a repeat of 2007 (as if that would ever happen).

I think it's a shame really. Good job on Reading and Leeds taking a risk and bumping acts.

Glastonbury has given loads of bands their first headlining slot over the years; Reading have paid bands that don't exist anymore millions (literally) to headline. I'd say this is a step in the right direction for Reading but there's no lesson for Glastonbury here. Arctic Monkeys, Killers, Kings of Leon, Radiography, Pulp are just a few of the acts that got their headlining breaks at Worthy Farm.

Always knew Radiography would hit the big leagues. Love their hits. Suspicious Cyborg, Not Surprised, Weirdo... All great.

Hope they announce Coldplay soon to get it out  of the way so we can get on with the real speculation.

I'm still certain or telling myself that the will be a main headliner announcement next week sometime or this weekend (end of jan pretty much) I just got a big feeling!

They have given lots the first headliner slots over the years, but there has been a move away from this in recent years I think. Florence was because they were forced to (I thought she thoroughly deserved it outright, given her history with the festival and size) .. but even then they didn't even bump her. Kanye and Beyonce were "new" headliners I guess, but they were massive touring acts already. Its not the same as giving a smaller band like Arctic Monkeys, Radiohead, Muse the bump up. I wouldn't go as far as to say Glastonbury should take lessons from Reading, but I hope Glastonbury continues to do it too. It seems like they are reluctant too these days.

Edit: I forgot Mumfords, maybe it isn't as bad as I thought it was.

Radiohead will make resale day easier than coldplay or Adele

Coldplay and Adele may be more widely loved, but I think Radiohead fans are more likely to try and get tickets. If all three are announced before resale day I might as well start pricing Greek villas for the fortnight.

And anyway, ticket buying fears cannot be allayed by facts.

Auto-correct aside, Radiohead headlined T a year before Glastonbury.

I think New Order on the Saturday makes Radiohead even less likely (for the Saturday anyway). They don't make the same type of music obviously, but both will appeal to a lot of the same people, I think they will want something that will appeal to more of the masses one Pyramid (like an Adele).

I think very recent ticket sales suggest Adele is the true nightmare for resale hopefuls, sadly.
