Headliners 2016

when you're at the front the bass on pyramid ruins it a bit (other than the who and Paul Weller which were spot on, unlike kanye and alt j which were the worst for it this year of who I saw) whereas at reading the mix in 2013 was spot on in my opinion

Oh yeah, 2013 was the best recent Reading for sound by a country mile (probably why it's my favourite year I've been). Which makes it all the more frustrating that it's often been so bad in other years.

Pissing myself at the bus stop reading them last posts.

Also quite ashamed to say that after the kicking I've given them on here over the years, having been stuck with a compilation for my car journeys after my phone jack broke... I mildly enjoyed that Cest La Vie track they've put out.

I'll try and redeem this post by pointing out Mr Writer is still the worst song released by anyone. Ever.

It's a pity that Stereophonics aren't Mancunian enough to open the Other Stage.

Just imagine kicking back in the drizzle, Tuborg in hand as the clock strikes 11am and Kelly and the lads launch in to Mr Writer.

Chewing your way through a cold Growler while the mighty 'Phonics encore with Theme from The Office feat. Ricky Gervais doing 'The Dance'

Standing in a puddle, hugging your neighbour, tears of joyful sadness streaming down your face as they unfurl a massive picture of Stuart Cable.

The dry heaves stopping for just a moment as you nearly choke on your oggie when they bring Tom Jones to duet on Mama Told Me Not to Come.

Almost following through as you try to avoid a divebombing seagull as the sounds of Madame Helga drift over from the stage.

Retching like a bulldogs infected sphincter due to the fumes of bovine fecal matter wafting in from next doors farm as they send you off ready for Glasto with the final belting all inclusive chorus of Have a Nice Day.

#TeamSPs etc

This factually incorrect.

That Bryan Adams and Mel C duet is the most universally despised song ever recorded.

This is fact.

I've written off two cars because of that song.

No comparison Aki.

I remember running, nay, sprinting away from a stage where they were performing Mr Writer about ten years ago, screaming for them to stop.

I like that, in a cheesy nostalgic kind of way. It's good for karaoke too.

I also prefer Mr Writer to Have a Nice Day, although prefer may be the wrong word.

One of them cars was an escort xr3i in white with lowered suspension. My revulsion for a song eclipses yours in my opinion. I never listen to Heart FM anymore.

Mr Writer is shite also, so don't listen to Rock FM either.

Fucking hell just caught up with this thread and it's only July.

Key points:

The Bends is the best Radiohead album. Although I do enjoy the later stuff.

The National are definitely big enough to headline the Other Stage. However I'm pretty sure that one or two gigs aside they're working on the new album next year. Also they don't seem to want to play any more having missed two solid gold opportunities.

I do look like Mia Wallace. Sort of. If you squint a bit. Well I have her hair. On a good day.

Matt 42 looks exactly like I thought he would. Bizarrely.

I also thought Shankly was much older than that. Lot of old souls on young shoulders in here.

Think that's everything. Oh and no bloody clue who will headline.

Not sure if this has been mentioned before on this thread but there is talk of N.W.A. doing a reunion tour, and with the possibility of Eminem joining them, could this be headliner material?  Even though all three headliners have already been booked!!!

Jungle, as ace as they are, could do with writing a few songs that sound a little.. how can I say it politely.. less similar!

That's true. I caught a couple of songs as I was walking back to my tent and at the start of both I said to a mate I was with "ah this is there most famous song... oh no wait, no its not".

They had good energy though.

Thought the NWA talk is only about a one off, due to the release of Straight Outta Compton film? is there more to it than that? shit, I hope so. that would be immense. Imagine NWA on the Pyramid. wow. But I just don't see it really. I'm now off to scour the net for more of this tour.

The article I read mentioned a European tour..but then it was written by TheLadBible

as tempted as i would no doubt be by an NWA show - i love those records and have never seen any of the members live - it'd just be a largely meaningless reunion wouldn't it?

Easy is long dead, Cube only appeared on one album, Dre only leaves his house for Apple board meetings.  Who knows what Yella, Ren and Arabian Prince are up to, but i suspect they'd do it for the cash.

it'd be one thing to get those guys together to do a few tunes, but to call it a full NWA thing.. that ship sailed long ago, imo.

"fuckin' with me 'cos i'm a teenager,

with a little bit of gold and a pager"

just wouldn't sound right coming from the mouth of a 50 year old millionaire who appears in childrens films.

Eminem can fuck off.

Same could be said for "I hope I die before I get old".

NWA in any form would be most welcome.

Headliner though? Nah.

Eminem can fuck off.

Agreed.

Not if it's after that break dancer's bedtime. On the telly she was the highlight. So cool!

The thing with  Jungle is, good though they are they can't just keep redoing the same set over and over as they have been for the past two years. Time to freshen it up lads.

The hype around it would be immense, but yeah it would never happen. If this European tour happens though, I know i'd have to go to one of the dates, I'd owe it to my younger self.
