ArcTanGent have made their first announcement.. I've wanted to try this one a few years, this looks like the year to try it, the line-up is one of the most ArcTenGent line-ups possible, but I don't know if I can do two festivals two weekends on the bounce (Leeds the weekend after) and I don't know anybody else weird enough to want to go. Never say never though.

Line-up: http://www.arctangent.co.uk/line-up/

Anybody going? Been before? Talk about cool stuff about the festival.

I went in 2013. It's a great little festival although it can get a little samey at points. May go again this year although it does get a bit hectic doing two festivals in a row... done it a few times with Reading + Arctangent and Glastonbury + Sonisphere but think may need to stop doing that.

Dam! I really want to go to this despite only knowing a few bands but Deafheaven and TDEP would be fantastic! But I don't think I'm going to be able to do it and volunteering ain't worth for this festival as there isn't enough for me to see :(

The same guys arrange it as 2kTrees, especially the volunteering side. When I stewarded trees they asked if any of us would be up for working arctangent as well. It'll be easier to get the position with you already having a successful trees application.

The main problem is actually exam results as in case something does go wrong I do actually want to be home so I can try to sort something out and it is on the first day of ArcTanGent so I could be able to do (with me having to be on site early) but it is something I'll look into next year. Also I can't afford a ticket as well and if I did fail all of my A2s and couldn't get into Uni TDEP would have been the perfect may to vent my disappointment

I forget people care about exam results. Even in that bygone period where I had mine I was still 97% sure to get into my top uni and absolutely guaranteed to get into my reserve.

That said, I'm a lousy uni double-drop-out scumbag, so following my lifepath probably isn't a good idea.

A-level results are the week before aren't they? I only know this because Green Man is the same weekend and my brother's taking his first year A-levels this time, had to check it wasn't the same week before getting him a ticket. I'm in deep shit with me mam if I've got this wrong.

We (about 10 of us) are going, we have done 2ktrees for the last 2 years, and whilst its a fantastic festie, the music wasnt really heavy enough for us tbh. The lineup here is incredible. Particular mention outside of TDEP and 65DOS goes to

Tacoma Narrows Bridge Disaster, from sarf landan. Fucking brilliant, been pestering James at 2ktrees to book these for donkeys. (A lot like Tool without a vocalist tbh)

Mike Vennart (ex oceansize and biffy clyro's "secret" tour guitarist) solo, very excited for this. I really like Mikes voice and songwriting and its been too long with nothing new from him

He is also appearing as "British Theatre" ( a side project with Gambler - also ex oceansize) but I think thats less rocky, hence Ive never really bothered with it.

and finally, we saw Flood Of Red supporting Maybeshewill in Leeds in December, they were really good.

they come across a lot heavier live.

How do i persuade my wife to go to this? Im a math rock liker. She likes tunes (the bloody philistine!)

Any tips?

Play 65daysofstatic's entire discography, at enormous volume until she gets it.

Think I might give We Were Exploding Anyway another listen now.

Just pre-ordered his album, really looking forward to it. The track you get instantly on pre-order, Infatuate, is fucking good.

ATG lineup is absolutely class, unfortunately I don't think I'll be able to afford it this summer unless I get offered a job in the near future.

Yeah, I have pledged for vennarts new one too. He's a top bloke. I've spent many hours in his company. We have gone for the VIP upgrade at ATG, the possibility of watching TDEP from the side of the stage is making me throb a little bit.

First Great Western strike means trains are going to be non-existent on the Sunday after the festival

Just booked up a Megabus from Bristol to London for my friend and I which came to £6 each

The strike may get cancelled but it's definitely a safer bet to book arrangements now rather than later

Amazing that the strikes affect two festivals organised by the same people (this and 2000 Trees!) What have they done to annoy FGW? Hah.

Anyway, I'll be volunteering on the bar for this - got serious post-festival blues after my run of Glastonbury-Trees-Latitude and a serious lack of money means I went for the working option. Should be fun!

Attended the first year as a punter and apart from getting robbed it was great!

Cracking Thursday line up this year, I must say!
