I saw hundreds of people with those orange trolleys with big wheels. Made the walk look effortless. Can anyone help?

Not orange but you can get a very decent trolley right here on this website (and thereby contribute to keeping eFests alive): http://camping.efestivals.co.uk/festival-trolleys--wagons-75-c.asp

Mine is similar to that evolution one sold by efests. Had mine years and it's done maybe 10 Glastonburys. It was marketed as a fishing trolley but looks very similar to that one in the link.

Folds flat and the wheel are removeable for easy storage and packing it in the car, big pneumatic tyres to get through the mud.

The thing with the full trolleys is you really need a van just to transport the trolley, no chance if you drive a supermini style car like me.

Used sack trolleys from B&Q and they have been brilliant. Get some pallet wrap around your gear and you are good to go. Went for a 4 wheeled garden trolley last year and it was rubbish! Kept falling over and the axle bent.

My tip for future Glasto's. Carry only what you need to pitch up on your first visit. You can fly through all the people walking to the gates and get to your preferred camping spot. Once the tents are up, you can go back to the car and get all your other stuff.

doing two trips to the car sounds horrific. So just when you have set up your tent and are raring to go, you have to go and do it all over again??

no ta

I did 3 trips one year. And played in the footie match the same day. Fucking miserable setting up other peoples (gigantic and really really heavy) 8 man tents at 11pm.

I'd rather do two easy trips than one back breaking one, tried it booth ways and 2 trips definatly suits me better. I stick the tents and my big rucksack on the trolley on the first trip then nip back for the crates. Being able to cut round the queue second time means it doesn't take as long.

Exactly! After driving through the night to get there, the last thing I want to do is try and take everything in one go.

We spotted a fair number of trolleys that had collapsed under the sheer weight of items on them. The folk with them were having a total nightmare before they'd even got through the gates.

Two trips avoids all that stress!

what I generally do is just take what i need for the first night: tent, sleeping bag etc., and then a backpack with a warm jacket/hat for night time and enough booze to get me through the night.

then the next morning I go for a stroll out to the car, getting some breakfast along the way, change clothes at the car, and then bring in my clothes/booze/snacks for the next few days.

best of both worlds really, not a killer walk 1st time trying to carry everything, and once you've set up the tent, you don't need to worry about going out to the carpark again until the next morning, when things are relatively quiet anyway, and a stroll in the fresh air is preferable to sitting in the tent dying with a hangover :)

if you're going to get a trolley, make sure it's the proper strong one, with big wheels. the lighter ones with small wheels often fall apart with any kind of heavy load on rough ground.

I'm all with the two, or even 3 trips idea. Don't always need everything there on the first day so a crate or 2 of cider can be left in the boot to go pick up the next day, oh and there are 4 portaloos that are hardly used in the field I park in so really don't mind a morning stroll back to the car, and 5 minutes "relaxation".

Yup when I go by car, thats how I do it. Not going make that trip again in the same, but a quick trip to collect the rest of the booze on thursday and to put most of the worn clothes back on the sunday makes things alot easier!

We did two trips for the first time this year. Much, much easier! I've so often found that big single trip wipes me out for the weekend. Being a bit more leisurely on the Wednesday really helped with my weekend stamina.

Might even try a double trip back next year...

I go for multiple trips too, but there is a downside. In 2005 I went back for the rest of the beer on Thursday afternoon, and it was all boiling hot. Not warm, but hot i.e. a similar temperature to tea. Absolutely minging, but needless to say I drank it anyway.

I now do all the trips on Wednesday :)

I've got one of these...

Was via a recommendation on here, This year I had a chap ask me about it and other chap as walking towards say to his girlfriend... "That's the trolley I wanted to get"

Going to get a 2nd one, and retired the small trolley I have.

Advantage of getting there on the Tuesday evening this year (for me and mine):

Parked as near as you can get.

First in(ish) Wednesday.

Did an easy trip every morning in a hungover haze to get more booze / supplies.

LOADS of booze and everything else in car...bought back in the empty rucksack.

Best / easiest ever GF yet.

We got one of those fishing trolleys for the first time last year as couldn't do two trips to the car with my dodgy ankle. Only issue was we hadn't practiced putting everything on it and didn't have the right sized elastic hook things so everything fell off! Was a great help but next year will do a practice stacking run!!

I get the coach, and that back breaking trip to the campsite is a killer. I want to get a trolley for next year but not sure National Express will take them in the hold? Any experiences of this?

Got the one from the e-fests shop.

Bus driver saw our one fully laden took al the stuff and put it into the hold ,but wouldn't take the barrow, so i just folded it down, took it onto the bus,and it sat comfortably at my feet.

I can only speak for my experiences on See Coaches. One person on our coach turned up with a trolley and whilst they did get it on, the hold was absolutely rammed, big men were pushing bags as hard as they could to get them in.

You might get it on, but you may well have to leave all your booze by the side of the road!
