Cheap places to stay in Glastonbury before festival?

Hi all,

After a nightmare coach journey last year, my partner and I have decided to travel to Glastonbury a day or so before the festival and find somewhere to stay before getting a bus to the Festival on the weds morn. . After all the years of going to the festival, it would be nice to actually spend some time in Glastonbury itself for a change.

Ive had a look around at some places but I wondered has anyone stayed in Glastonbury before and have any recommendations?

Stayed in Glastonbury Travel Lodge in 2013. That was about £75 per room

Not the cheapest maybe but in a good location. We used the day to visit the Tor and local pubs, Cracking way to build up to the festival as it felt like everyone in the town was going to the festival. Left the hotel at about 6:30am and was onsite and parked at 7:15am

Travel lodge. We bed down there for £27 a night for my birthday.

I guess the prices go up festival time.

We stay at the Isle of Avalon Camp site in town. Leave the camp site at 7, que for a bit and always been onsite parked by about 8.

Cheers for the replies. neither my partner nor I drive so we will be getting the glastonbury town hall shttle bus on the morning of the festival. This limits us a bit to just staying in Glastonbury itself. Will have a look at the travel lodge. I have found some cheap places, though as you say they may well not be cheap nearer festival time! I definately agree that a couple of days stay beforehand will really add to the Glasto experience!
